Dubophonic celebrating the Netlabel Day

20 years after the conception of the MP3 format, a group of independent artists and labels from all over the planet have banded together for the first time ever, to celebrate the mp3 and the culture of free music.

Forget about all these well-known "celebrity" artists. The Netlabel Day is an online space made by truly independent artists and netlabels and isfor all those people who listen and support independent art movements, highlighting “free and independent music in high quality format” from different genres.

On this special day, the 14th of July 2015, the 80 participating netlabels, among the Dubophonic, and more than 13 independent artists have released new and original material to celebrate this special day. Of course, all music is for free download. Check all releases and start digging!

Mexican Stepper - Run & Tell REMIXED

After his first release on Dubophonic and following his recent European tour, the international artist from Mexico Yasser Serano, better known as Mexican Stepper, returns with another heavyweight track. Based on the same concept of the Mad Sunday EP, Yasser introduces his new tune “Run & Tell” and calls in these times of tribulation the Peruvian singer Rebel-I for vocal assistance, running and telling to the four corners of the world that Babylon is falling down. Originally the title track has been included in Mexican Stepper’s digital LP “Piramide del Sol” from last year released on the French netlabel Original Dub Gathering.

Since Dubophonic likes to experiment and stir things together, we have called assistance from our extended family of artists and asked them to spread the conscious message of the tune in their own style and fashion. The result was twelve exclusive versions of the original tune, reconstructed and mixed all around the world, strengthening the bonds and proving one more time, that conscious dub music is an international thing. Among all versions there is one special dubplate by Mexican Stepper and five remixes by Injham (FR), Thriakis Dub Destroyer (FR), Koncrete Roots (UK), JahYu (GER) and Mr Zebre (FR), as well as six alternative cuts/dubs by Du3normal (HUN), Holy Sound Crew (FR), Murjah Warriors (ITA), Dubios (GER), Mr Mefistou (PR) and Ktopp (GER).

Which is your favourite? You may prefer Mr Zebre’s warrior style vibration or the rootically inspired remix of Thriakis Dub Destroyer. Perhaps it’s the organic skunking melody of the Murjah Warriors, armed with a mandolin and a melodica ina “Renaissance” steppa style, that will carry you away inna cloud of irieness … or the heavy vibrations of Koncrete Roots and Injham. Perhaps the correct question should be “Which one is our favourite?” Well, all twelve versions are heavy enough to set Babylon on fire. So play them LOUD! It remains to you to discover the vibes hidden behind each version!

After their first release “Dub ina Midlands” on the first day of 2014, Koncrete Roots are back with more vibrations for all the nations..

The 2nd LP is a collection of 12 heavyweight tracks, among them a new version of the “classic” Inity Step ina jungle dubplate style and dubs of  "Universal Dub" and "River Jordan. “Rudies in Dub” continues the vibes of “Dub ina Midlands”, offering strictly warrior style beats with a heavy dose of wall-shaking bass lines, ingredients that became the acoustic trademark of Koncrete Roots. With this new release Koncrete Roots are dropping a bomb of consciousness in the Babylon world we live into. Ruff and tuff!

Koncrete Roots - Rudie Dubplates

 

After the success of their first release “Dub ina Midlands” and their guest appearence on the EP of Red Star Martys "Time for Tea", Koncrete Roots is back with more vibes.

Celebrating the first birthday of our netlabel, we are giving to everybody the free EP “Rudie Dubplates” with 5 tracks of wall-shaking basslines, irie sax and warrior style beats. This is our way to say "thank you for your massive support during this 1st year of our existence".  Ruff and tuff!

This is the first part of a special double release. The second part will be released two days later on Saturday the 26th of July, so watch this space!

Red Star Martyrs vs Dubophonic All-Stars - Time for Tea

The Red Star Martyrs return with the 2nd EP on Dubophonic. This time the UK musician and producer Stanley Wood unleashes the herbal energy of tea, brewing some special blends, mixing the finest musical flavours of Europe, Jamaica, Orient and Occident in a tasty and relaxing chill out drink. Alongside with him, many artists from the Dubophonic netlabel family. Ibel, The Dubbstyle, Mr Mefistou and Koncrete Roots prepared their own special recipes and are ready to serve their exclusive versions of Stanley’s riddim. So, sip your cup and let the journey begin.

The EP starts with the taste of mint in our mouth, as the oriental vibes flow inna mystical way in the atmosphere. The river of tranquility passes right in front of us, as we embark in a journey, that sets our mind and soul in a perfect balance. The magical voice of Ibel guides us ina Rub-a-dub journey of irieness, as he prepares his special Jamaican blend of tea, served in two different mixes.

The sounds of the far east travel to Argentina where mint receives a special treatment by the Dubbstyle, being mixed with the yerba mate leaves, only to be transformed into a antioxidant and cholesterol-lowering beverage, cleansing the body from all Babylon diseases. The logical outcome is the cleansing also of the mind and Mr Mefistou uses his double ethnic background and adds for the next recipe a touch of flamenco style guitar mixed with a New York influenced sound.

Finally our herbal beverage returns back to the country it started its journey, only to be chilled in the fridge and to be served with ice by the Koncrete Roots inna special dubplate style. Once we are cleansed, in body and in spirit, we can enjoy the last cup of tea served exactly at five o’clock by Stanley Wood himself. Give thanks for that wonderful journey!

Koncrete Roots - Dub ina Midlands

 

 

The year 2014 starts with some new Dubophonic heights with Koncrete Roots, a one man project by Thomas Kenney from Leicestershire in the East Midlands of England.

From an early age Thomas would listen to a huge amount of music though he would always favour the sounds of Ska and Reggae. Music was always in his blood and he began producing back in 2004 under a different name. The music he was making at the time was a reflection of the scene around him; hip hop and grime. It wasn’t until later in life, when he was introduced to (and fell in love with) Dub music, that he started to take his own music seriously and started to develop his own sound and style.

Koncrete Roots’ style can be described as a deeply rooted dub sound with a modern day steppa twist. This twist makes all the difference and gives an electro dubness to their traditional rootical sound introducing some great vibes to the massive, entering into the new year.

From the meditative “River Jordan” to the rootical electro steppas like ‘Inity Step” and “Sound Killah”, Koncrete Roots deliver their message of dubness and irieness into the year 2014. Not withstanding his versions of two old time classics, the UK producer seems like a sound warrior, armed with deep basslines and organic melodies like in “Universal dub”, marching to destroy Babylon on his way to Zion.
