Dream Weapons present: THE OLD WAVE C60

The Old Wave is really just a bunch of tunes from the early to mid-eighties, that's either been with me forever, or I’ve stumbled over in various places around the internet. If not that old, New Wave is at least middle aged by now (yet for some reason "The Middle Aged Wave" didn't feel right). But it holds up well and still sound as fresh as ever. More so than the music from the second part of the same decade. It was an uniquely vibrant period for «popular music». I’ve simply collected nineteen standout gems (at least I think so) from this era that has gone under most everyone’s radar. Yes I know, The Comsat Angels and Lene Lovich are relatively well known, but the single/EP flipsides included here aren't. Chilling and doom-laden in a sort of cold war angsty way + plenty of fun -Moahaha

Dream Weapons present: COLONIAL SPACE TOURS C90

Before I scrapped my original cover, inital idea and most of the content (but kept the title), the concept I went for was something like a travel agency or an intergalactic «Lonely Universe» travel book guide for future colonial space tourists. The end result is closer to this «pulp sci-fi» cover art - predominantly filled with stirring synth licks, drum machines and vocoders. Some new waveish songs as well, but all in all sounding much like the imagined soundtrack for a cheapish sci-fi flick anno ca. 1980 my visual presentation suggests  -Moahaha

Dream Weapons present: THE SYNTHETIC CHRYSALIS C60 by MVM

For the first time in ages we proudly present: a guest mix! As you’ll hear and see our friend MVM has his own distinct voice and esthetics - but still somehow fits in perfectly:
 
-I have always been drawn to music in films, and especially the not-so-great ones; Primarily from the early to mid-eighties, which are often synth-laden. The music has this great organic quality. “The Synthetic Chrysalis”, as the name suggests, tries to encapsulate that (though not synth-oriented). And as the life from a chrysalis to a butterfly slowly evolves, this mix follows the same path. The sculpture on the cover is by the late great Ken Price - a favorite artist of mine for a long time -MVM

Static Lines is a collaboration by Dream Weapons for 20ft Radio containing twenty minutes of hand-picked electronic tunes by Sadhu Sadhu (⟡), Prabha Devi (☾) and Moahaha (♌︎) each. For our third radio special we wanted to do something different than simply complile another best-of-everything-we-represent-mix. The end result is mostly an hour of catchy electro-pop - with the occasional soundscape snuck in between the "hits"

Dream Weapons Present: FUTURA PRIMITIVA c90

I thought this would end up as the less pretentious pulp-version of Antropocen (a former mix of mine). But aside from the coverart and my approach to writing this text, the actual music itself is most definitely in the same ballpark. These ninety minutes are equally packed with analogue electronics served on a bed of drum machines occasionally spiced up with a few minimalist tunes and soundscapes - among other things.

This guestmix was made by Dave from the New York space-rockers White Hills. A regular face on the touring routes all over the world, he has amassed an impressive record collection over the years and is treating us to a peek inside his head

"From the time I was in high school I've always cherished making cassette mixes for friends. It was a way to turn friends on to music I'm into, and create something special and meaningful for them. When Dream Weapons asked if I'd be interested in putting a mix together for them, it was a no brainer,  With this mix I present to the listener a C90 look into my record collection. Most of the tracks I  digitized myself. Some of the names may be familiar (i.e. James T. Pursey otherwise known as Jimmy Pursey from Sham69 and Brian Brain aka Martin Atkins from PiL) but seen in a different light from the work they are known for. Hopefully there's a track or two you've never heard before in which  turns you on to a new artist and causes you to seek out their output in a way that supports their art. In the end that is the point of these things, isn't it? So, sit back and enjoy the ebb and flow…"
