Black Adam is finally here to provide fans with the live-action movie debut of the Justice Society and a whole new host of DC characters, including Aldis Hodge's Hawkman.

But this isn't Hodge's first rodeo in a DC project. Before playing Hawkman on the big screen, he voiced Green Lantern in the animated DC movie Green Lantern: Beware My Power.

Ahead of Black Adam's highly-anticipated release, Digital Spy spoke with the actor, who talked about the challenge of playing a different character in the same cinematic universe.

"Two very different superheroes, so I had to apply my mindset differently. Hawkman is a different kind of beast," he explained.

"From the organic nature of who he is as a person and then as a warrior, but also as a leader on his mission trying to figure out what the right thing to do is. It's a very different approach, but I gotta tell you, Hawkman was quite a thrill to play and figure out."

When Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam is unleashed from his prison after 5,000 years, he's challenged by some modern-day superheroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman, Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell).

Discussing one of the big fight scenes between Hawkman and Black Adam, Brosnan recalled: "It was the first day of filming where Hawkman flies into the apartment with the two guys, and this fight ensues. Jaume said: 'Where do you want to be?' and I said: 'I'm going to sit in that chair right there and watch the events take place'.

Hodge added: "He saw them slingshot me in and out of the room 50 times, just sitting there with his tea going: 'Hmm, this is delightful'. The biggest opponent that I had in the room was probably the wires.

"Fighting DJ was easy, we knocked it out, but the wires, man, that throws your body around like a ragdoll. I'm still recovering, but it's alright, it's worth it."

Black Adam is released in cinemas on October 21.
