    Analysis

    I have been to Tropicana Field many, many times and it's a pit. But it's the Rays' pit -- for now -- and their first time back there since the 2024 season due to hurricane damage that sent the Rays to Tampa for 2025. So certainly a bit more juice than even a typical home opener and it's ace lefty Shane McClanahan on the hill. Chicago played a doubleheader in Cleveland on Sunday so the bullpen is not in ideal shape. The Cubs are 1-2 away and I'm not a fan of starting pitcher Jameson Taillon. Two Rays in Yandy Diaz and Cedric Mullins have really nice career splits off him. Ideally, Cubs win by one.

    Analysis

    Caesar’s. I’m going to stay on Shane McClanahan’s under at 15.5 outs, until the Rays show they are willing to let him loose. After making his first MLB start in two and a half years last week, McClanahan faltered in the fifth inning after a near perfect beginning to his outing. I do think the Rays will continue to be ultra protective of their lefty ace. The Cubs are a good bet to drive up pitch counts as well - they see the fourth most pitches per plate appearance so far this season, including the eleventh lowest in zone swing rate and the seventh lowest chase rate.

    Expected Starters: Vasy (TB) vs UPL (BUF) My projected total 6 over -115 Last time these teams played it was an instant classic but nightmare fodder for those of us that prefer goaltending at the highest level. Tampa has moved to a substantial division favorite over the last week and a win here could drive a stake through the Sabres' hopes. This is the 1st time TB leaves home since March 22 and there's a chance they'll be without (F) Brandon Hagel for a 3rd straight game. TB's experience and defensive pedigree should be on full display in hostile territory; under is the only way for me to look

    Analysis

    Atlanta has won 13 straight home games and is 18-2 SU in its last 20 games overall, with 16 of those wins by double digits. The Knicks have lost their last five games to teams above .500, and New York is just 21-19 SU on the road. Both teams are healthy. But the Hawks arguably have more to play for as they try to avoid the play-in tournament. You could argue the Knicks, currently the No. 3 seed, would benefit from dropping to the fourth seed so they could avoid Boston in the conference semis. Not that New York won't go all-out, but we've already heard Mike Brown say he wants to keep some wrinkles hidden from potential playoff opponents. Red-hot Atlanta is among them.

    Analysis

    Jalen Duren has developed into an All-NBA caliber Center and has been vital in the Piston locking up the top seed in the Eastern Conference. With that said, this is a hefty combo line for the talented big man in what would certainly qualify has a difficult matchup against the Magic who surrender the second fewest PPG to opposing Centers. I expect this game to be paced down as well.
