Here’s a sweet little project that your little crafters can make for Valentine’s Day.

Etceteras: rustic twig frame

Here’s a fun and easy way to frame a favorite picture.

Gather small twigs and bunch them together to create a natural frame.

To make this frame I collected twigs and grouped them into four stacks.

I tied the twig bunches together a the ends with thread and then used a wide organza ribbon to wrap the corners.

The photo is secured with double-sided tape to another piece of the organza ribbon which is then glued to the back of the frame.

A sweet look for fall or to add a touch of rustic charm to your décor.

Little Craft: twig trellis and beanstalks

Here’s a fun summer project that you can make for yourself or as a kid’s craft.

Assemble a plant trellis from twigs and moss. I used a glue gun to hold mine together.

Here’s the part that kids will love. For almost instant gratification, germinate beans to plant with your trellis.

I soaked my white beans between wet paper towels overnight and the roots were forming the next day.

 

Plant your beans in a pot with your trellis.

Put in a sunny location and watch your beans twine up the trellis in days.

Etceteras: tissue paper trees

It seems I can’t get enough spring color lately. These little tissue paper trees would be perfect for a table center piece or place card holders.

A pretty in pink cherry blossom tree.

 A serene lavender wisteria tree.

A zesty yellow lemon tree.

The base for these trees is made with rolled up corrugated cardboard. You can purchase corrugated cardboard or reuse boxes. If you’re going to reuse a box, you need to peel away the top later of the cardboard to reveal the corrugated part.

The flowers are made with tissue paper. Simply cut a length of tissue paper and cut scallops along one edge. Then roll up the tissue paper and crimp the bottom.  Glue onto twigs or wire and insert into the rolled up cardboard base.
