Congratulations on your 20 year anniversary (even if it's officially well past 20 years). Binoculars are a wonderful and useful gift! What a great choice. :-) When I used to run, I never minded running in the rain in warm (or even warm-ish) weather. It was actually kind of pleasant . . . and I always got sweaty anyway, so no big deal, right? (Not during downpours or thunderstorms; just regular-old summer rains.)
