About the Author

Amber Guinness is a cook and food writer who lives in Florence, Italy. She was born in London but raised in Arniano, the Tuscan farmhouse her parents restored near Siena. She has a master's degree in history and Italian from the University of Edinburgh and has worked as a cook in both London and Italy. Amber's first book, A House Party in Tuscany, featured recipes and stories from her internationally acclaimed residential painting school in Arniano. Her second book, Italian Coastal, was a journey in food along the Tuscan coast. Winter in Tuscany is her third book. Amber is married with a son.

Amber Guinness is a home cook and cookery writer. She was born in London and grew up in Tuscany. She learned to cook at her mother’s side in the kitchen at Arniano, the farmhouse restored by her parents Jasper and Camilla and were they lived full time until 2003. She went to the University of Edinburgh where she studied History & Italian literature, always working in her spare time as a cook both in London and Italy.

In 2014 she founded The Arniano Painting School, a residential painting holiday designed to breathe life back into Arniano after her father’s death. These luxury artist’s retreats are centred around creativity and food, and have been featured in The New York Times, House & Garden, Tatler, The Daily Telegraph, Italy Segreta, and various other international magazines. She now lives in Florence. Part-memoir, part-cookbook, and filled with an array of appealing dishes which are rich yet achievable, 'A House Party in Tuscany: Recipes, stories and art from Arniano', is a distillation of everything Amber has learnt about cooking, hosting and painting while growing up in a Tuscan farmhouse, and is her first book.
