About Us

Based in Kobe, Japan, Akavinyl are avid collectors of music in all its physical forms. Although music is increasingly consumed in digital form, we here celebrate the history, the art, the magnificence of music you can hold in your hands and display proudly in your living spaces.

General notes:
1) All payments for items on this site will be done via PayPal. Cheers!

2) Prices are listed in Japanese yen. To do a rough translation into U.S. dollars, take off the last 2 digits and then subtract a few more dollars. It’s a really great exchange rate for those in the EU right now. Therefore, ¥1,000 is about 5.82 euro (as of August 30, 2025).

3) The order cart is far from perfect. If you submit an order and don’t hear from us within 24 hours, or have trouble submitting an order, send us an email at: order@akavinyl.com — we are happy to assist manually.

Special note: Effective August 27, 2025, Japan Post has temporarily suspended, to the United States and all its territories, the acceptance of:

  • Small packets, standard parcels, and EMS (goods) containing:
    • Individual gifts valued over $100 USD
    • Goods intended for sale or consumption

This suspension aligns with similar actions taken by other national postal services globally. Therefore, under the current Japan Post policy, we cannot use standard postal services like EMS to ship these items to the U.S. If you are still interested in an item, we would need to explore alternative shipping methods, such private couriers, which will make the shipping cost even higher than usual.

Additionally, Japan has reorganized its zoning and price for EMS with significant increases for most areas. For a full list, see this notice from the Japan Postal Service. (Last update: 8/27/2025)

For pricing, see our shipping policy page for the full break down.

During this time, we can take orders from anywhere, but cannot send them to the countries listed therein until the restrictions have been lifted.
