There exists a tree that is timeless, spanning across all dimensions, which absorbs every life as those who are hanged as they die… and it remembers every one. The stories within are a select few of the Tales From the Hanging Tree

Tales from the Hanging Tree is a wonderfully dark, themed anthology which revolves around an ephemeral and timeless hanging tree that absorbs the memories of all hanging victims. This WordCrafter Press anthology was created by invitation only and includes stories from authors Kaye Lynne Booth, Paul Kane, DL Mullan, C.R. Johansson, Joseph Carrabis, Sylva Fae, and Matt Usher.

Inspiration for “Therion’s Heart”, by C.R. Johansson

When Kaye invited me to submit a story to her new anthology, Tales From The Hanging Tree, the first thing that came to mind was a torrential rain storm and a drenched woman surrounded by a mob. Following in the footsteps of some of my favorite authors (Rod Serling, Stephen King, Alfred Hitchcock, and others) who wrote stories depicting the actions of mob mentality in the face of the unknown or unnatural, I started to write my short story Therion’s Heart. What had this wretched and rejected woman done to cause these people so much hostility? I was excited to find out. I hope you enjoy my story Therion’s Heart as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Meet C.R. Johansson: C.R. Johansson writes gripping thriller, science fiction, and fantasy stories with a genetic twist. Her characters explore universes where the unknown prevails and the impossible is possible akin to her life with congenital heart disease. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and comical pugs. When not writing, she enjoys listening to the river nearby, working in her garden, paper mache’, knitting and sitting on the couch drinking tea. Find her on Facebook, GoodReads and Amazon.
