I am having the same issue. If anyone has a work around for this I would love to know. I am trying to link to my Amazon Registry. The link follows the convention of:
https://www.amazon.com/wedding/UniqueURLFollowsHere
and is getting converted to:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/?tag=dreiqbik-20
Would love to be able to use this plugin but right now its back to the drawing board. . .
Right now I have a working hack. I created a redirect page on my site that is listed as the product URL. Using a redirect plugin I am rerouting the user to the Amazon wedding registry URL.
I have only seen the plugin modify Amazon URLs, so the local website URL is not affected by the tag.
So, it’s obvious that the dev of this plugin is no longer active. I have however found the code where they mangle the links with their own referral links.
if you edit the file (In the plugin folder:
/public/class-wp-gift-registry-public.php
Around line 326 is where all the amazon and all other referral link crap starts. I simply commented out his affiliate link tag – line 326.
Hey @netriscs and @canada13records,
sorry for the late reply – until just recently, we haven’t been able to spend time on this plugin. Now we’ve released a new version with bugfixes already and will continue working on new features.
As we are openly writing about in the disclaimer of the Readme, we’re attaching our affiliate ids to some links to earn us a few pennies in coffee money. I’m sorry that we had a few bugs in there which broke your links. These are now fixed.
Are you implying, that you would be interested in a paid version without affiliate links?
Cheers,
Moritz
