Plugin abandoned?

Thanks for the heads-up! Regenerate Thumbnails isn’t abandoned. It’s still maintained by Automattic.

The warning comes from the plugin’s “Tested up to” value, which hasn’t been updated for the last few major WordPress releases. Security scanners and WordPress.org use that value to flag plugins as possibly abandoned, even when nothing is wrong with the plugin.

I’ve asked our team to test it against the current WordPress version and update that value. I’ll post here once it’s done.
