Attributes from variable parent item not accessible

Issue:
Some of my variable items have an attribute called “Code LPP”.
This attribute is only for display so, on the variable item the checkbox “Used for variations” is not checked (see image).

When I order a variation of this item, I want to print the “Code LPP” on the invoice.
So I need to create a custom field that grabs this attribute value from the parent of the item ordered.
However, I don’t see this field in the wizard.

Expected behavior
I should be able to create a custom field for a variation item by accessing the parent variable item information.
