Friday Prompt for SoCs and JusJoJan. Fast/Slow.3/1/26.

My phone went Ping! It was Friday and it was a BOGOF prompt from LindaGHill…. Here is what she said.

“Friday is here! And so am I with our first combination Daily 2026 Just Jot it January prompt and Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt of the year. This one is for SATURDAY, JANUARY 3rd. The weather outside may be frightful, but the blog prompts are so delightful! Or something like that.”

Your prompt for #JusJoJan the 3rd and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “fast/slow.” Use one, use both, use them any way you’d like. Bonus points if you use them both! Enjoy!

Fast/Slow an Acrostic Poem

Fast flowing the river
Alluringly beckoning
Siren like, calls me
Too soon I am drawn under
Slowly time grinds to a holt
Long seconds pass by
Open mouthed I cannot breathe
Water slowly kills.

#TankaTuesday Poetry Challenge No. 42, Gift/Gifting, 12/09/25

This week Yvette is our host for Tanka Tuesday. Here is what she has to say about her prompt.“So, for this week, I thought we would focus on the word gift. You can choose the noun or verb version. You can write about a favorite gift you’ve received or one you have given. You can create a poem about the act of gifting. If you’d like, you can focus on the materialist side or the emotional aspect of gifts.”

I agree whole heartedly, the gift of love and time are worth more than expensive gifts and money. I have chosen a two stanza Abhanga for my entry this week.

The best gift is love
Your time and friendship too
It costs nothing, that true
Yet beyond worth.

We’ll always have this bond
Such a lasting present.
The children heaven sent
We gave them life

WELCOME TO #TANKATUESDAY!

Diana Peach selected the image for this week’s photo prompt. It’s an image from Pixabay.com, compliments of “Pretty sleepy.”

Colleen says, “Remember, we can see what’s in the image, so write your poem using the image as an inspiration. Don’t just describe what you see in the image. Use your imagination. Open your third eye and see what’s behind the red door! Think about metaphor and allegory. Just remember to check what form you’re using. Some of the Japanese forms frown upon the use of metaphors.”

I have chosen an Etheree , a single one as I believe time is a thief and we are it’s slaves so this is a tale of one half. Yet you can read it from top to bottom or bottom to top.

Portal

So philosopher of many colours
We are your slaves, and so, bound to you.
Yes master of theft you steal time.
We stand outside the portal
Imagining what lies
Beyond the red doors
A Universe?
A planet?
Nothing?
Void?

Swaying in the wind root and branch.
Time dances endlessly along
Punctuated by song bird’s song
All is written noughts left to chance.
The Forrest sees all of life’s dance.
Nature likes to watch the eons chase.
Across her planet at such pace.
She knows her cycle will repeat
Winter’s bitter cold, Summer’s heat.
Nature is happy by God’s grace

Time Slip

Image from Pixabay

We slip through the portals of time.
Caught in different streams we pass
Always missing you it’s a farce.
I reach out flaying around blind.
I slip through your grasp, so unkind.
I’m lost in a linear loop
All the chickens have flown the coop.
Climbing down slowly knot by knot.
Connecting the lines dot by dot
Torn assunder by Satan’s troop

I reach for your hand
But slip though linear cracks
Lost in space and time.

Heartland Echoes

Welcome to my “Heartland Echoes,” where I aim to share my poems with the world, along with my survival story and autobiography of childhood abuse, motivational quotes, and much more. Through my words, I hope to inspire others to share their own stories and experiences. Each poem is a piece of my heart and soul, along with a story of a traumatic past, crafted with inspiration, Hope, faith, love and passion. I believe that by sharing our art and emotions, I’ll be able to connect with others on a deeper level and create a sense of community.
