American Cinquain Poetry Prompt

Gently
Folded within
The arms of Morpheus
Let me drift away, exhaustion
Banished.

Boot Camp : Day Six . The Hattie Diaries.

© willowdot21 Ruby and Me

Well hello there everyone, I am Hattie and I am a Cavashon, that’s a King Charles Spaniel mixed with a Bichon Friz….. So I am a beautiful princess. Some say I am a tad overweight…. I’ll have you know I am comfortablely and perfectly padded! I arrived eight days ago and I found a diary left here by an upstart of a Cockerpoo puppy. Well I thought I could possibly let you into a few secrets from my stay. I am warning you now it won’t be as fast moving as Rae’s exploits.

Boot Camp Day Six
Well hello everyone did you miss me for the last two days. I needed a rest and willow said she was too busy so we have a special two-fa-one today.
So as usual willow was up at stupid o’clock luckily she went straight downstairs for her cuppa…. I went back to sleep. Ten thirty and willow was up and calling me down for WALKIES… so I thought rather than argue I’d oblige and we went off to the play park that’s at least six miles away ( five minutes walk in reality) anyway there were particularly good smells around there so I dained walk through the park and out the other side …up the road, round the bend and then along through the housing estate then up through the green and home. We met Stan the very clever and knowledgeable human who we met on my first day . He complimented me on lovely face and said how nice I looked and that I seemed happier with the WALKIES idea…. Well that I can neither confirm or deny ….either way I am not letting on.
And so we returned to find hubby busy cutting hedges. I was so hungry after my walk that I forgot my ten minute rule and ate my breakfast right up ! It was just what the vet ordered….then I went to sleep in the garden! …later I slept in the lounge then I slept in the kitchen!
I was really enjoying myself when ….yes you have guessed it willow was off again…. WALKIIES !
This time we all went out in the car and had what willow and hubby called a Ruby walk . Apparently it was Ruby’s favourite walk . Around a lake and it was lovely and I did enjoy it!
The home and dinner and rest..
Except that cat came visiting and the window and was being so rude I had to bark so loudly. In the end Hubby had to chase it off.
Later on I was snoozing when I got a whiff of Hedgehog! If there is anything I hate more than cats and some dickie birds it Hedgehogs! I started barking at it when they went to bed….I kept up the barking and demanding to go out and sort it out!!!! Well they got up twice then they said night night Hattie you’re on your own.
They went back to bed …..and I was! So after two hours (half an hour really )I gave up barking and went to sleep! Sleep rest and resting my paws! More to come!

Rubys favourite walk in the winter.

Well hello there everyone, I am Hattie and I am a Cavashon, that’s a King Charles Spaniel mixed with a Bichon Friz….. So, I am a beautiful princess. Some say I am a tad overweight…. I’ll have you know I am comfortablely and perfectly padded! I was a very close friend of Ruby, willow and her hubby’s beloved Labrador. I arrived eight days ago and I found a diary left here by an upstart of a Cockerpoo puppy. Well I thought I could possibly let you into a few secrets from my stay. I am warning you now it won’t be as fast moving as Rae’s exploits.

Day two Boot Camp.
Well willow was up at some ridiculous time so I just ignored her and went back to sleep. About two hours later she woke me again by bringing up her hubby’s breakfast. Well I pretended I was asleep.
About 9.30 am they finally insisted I get up and go in the garden to do my business.
As there was going to be no let up I decided, in my wisdom to get up and do as they wanted just to get some quiet.
I went out , sniffed the air then sat in the middle of the lawn, thinking. After about 10 minutes I had thunk enough so I did my business….. returning inside I found willow had put some breakfast down… Tempted …but not enough so I had a sleep 💤.
I had just got to sleep when willow announced WALKIES very loudly. Please…. I gave her a withering look.
Apparently she is immune to my killer looks and just put my lead and harness on!
We went off for the walk and met several neighbours who all had to be introduced , they all said I was quite different to Rae and Aya …which of course I am being superior!
One intuitive gentleman observed that I didn’t look very keen on this walking lark…. Listen up willow this chap knows his beans.
Enough of the…walk. When we got home I decided to have a large drink and then after thinking about it for ten minutes I ate my breakfast….well all that forced exercise and meeting my new adoring public was fun but I needed a boost then a snooze.
Thankfully the rest of the day was peaceful enough, I slept, I patroled the garden…rather I slowly processed around sniffing every nook and cranny and mirror… I like those I can check my appearance. I also had a chat with the local hoipaloi , Inca, Hudson,Jasper, Herbert and Humphrey and Barty!
About 5pm willow announced, again too brightly WALKIES. …Urrgh! That word gives me the chills ….again she was immune to my killer withering stare!
The walk was tiring yawn… I hung back as much as I could to discourage her from going too far but she is not easy to disaude from her plans. We’d not been gone long when I got the scent of CATS…. now if I really have to I can move and quite fast. CATS are an exception I will make and I shall chase them!
Heeee, heeee, heeee I nearly pulled her over…. snigger, snigger …
When we got back willow started cooking and she put my dinner out for me. Usually I take all evening to eat this but I was hungry and tired after all the excitement of CATS that I looked at it for ten minutes then I ate it all in one go. It was quite nice. willow noticed and said I was a good girl for cleaning my bowl. ….. I was exhausted so I went to bed.
We had a lovely quiet evening…M came round, he knows me well and he sat by my bed and said it was lovely to see me!
That’s all for today I am exhausted from typing. I do miss Ruby I wish she was still here. See you tomorrow for Day Three.

#TANKATUESDAY WEEKLY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 240, #THEMEPROMPT

WELCOME TO TANKA TUESDAY!

It’s the fourth week of the month! This is our theme prompt. Vashti Quiroz-Vega, from last month’s challenge, picked the theme. Colleen is excited about this one… it’s something we’ve never done before!

This month’s theme is:

LULLABY.

I have chosen to write a Décima. The Décima is a Spanish form of poetry, though the term is also used to describe stanzas of ten lines. Each of the ten lines is made up of eight syllables and the rhyming scheme is abbaaccddc. I have written one stanza for my lullaby.

Lullaby.

Borne upon gossima soft wings
I transport you to a safe place
Rewarded by your smiling face
Listen as the nightingale sings
Of cotton clouds and gentle things.
Soon Morpheus will have you safe
Then I might follow with God’s grace.
Don’t stir, don’t cry hush now and sleep
Evil will not in your dreams creep
While we escape life’s crazy pace.

THIS IS PART OF COLLEEN’S TUESDAY WEEKLY POETRY CHALLENGE

Tides of Madness

The tides of madness ebb and flow
Restlessness only calmed by sleep.
The waking hours make me weep.
Dark seasons like days of shadow.
Seeds of darkling around me grow.
Fears inside me grow and recede.
Monsters use my terror as feed.
Madness has me held as captive.
Rise and fall, trapped, no more to give.
Madness eats my soul and I bleed

Song Lyric Sunday. Sleep.

This week Jim Adams of Newepiauthor has given us the Song Lyric Sunday prompt : Dream Lullaby Sleep.

This week I have chosen my favourite singer songwriter Imogen Heap‘s Sleep.

This is one of my favourite relaxation tracks hope you all enjoy it.💜

“Sleep”

How can it feel so nice?
Why does it feel so right?
I think I’ve been somewhere special
I want to go back there

Sleep
I think I will
Go back to sleep

Oh it’s so cold and shivery outside my cocoon
Now I’m on my way

Sleep
Oh sleep
Sleep
