Looking at the state of the world today the current weather is no surprise… It’s simply simply Biblical!

Hurry hurry it is that time of year,
Buying presents planning meals,
Christmas is drawing near.
Tinsel, fairies, Santa’s everywhere,
tiny lights twinkle.
Hurry past her, close your eyes,
Tell yourself she’s okay
It is so easy to believe convenient lies
And hope she will go away.
Don’t even give her a second thought.
Or wonder why life has her so low brought.
How old is she? she does look young
But some of them play on that ….Scum.
She does look cold, she needs a coat
She looks so hungry and tired.
Is that a lump in your throat?
There are lots of souls like her around,
Sleeping in doorways and cardboard boxes
In our cities and our towns.
Should you give her your coat or your change,
Buy her a hot drink you don’t want her to spend it on booze
Or drugs help her out, don’t you think?
This dilemma makes you feel sad
Well what can I say, life can be bad!
She might be an angel she might be just be lost
But if you just helped her, would that be too high a cost.
So spare a thought as you gather round your Christmas tree
With your Christmas treats for all your family,
For all those who are lost, sad, lonely, cold or in pain.
If you gave to a homeless charity you would not loose,
Just think of what you could gain .

Little note: I know I have used this image and poem more than once but this beautiful homeless man speaks more with his eyes than I could write on a million blogs!

It’s my turn to be host on Tanka Tuesday. My challenge is for you is : For your challenge this week, I would like you to create either a Shadorma Prose or an any type of prose, including a syllabic form. The subject or theme can be of your choosing.
I used a prose paragraph with an Abhanga this time.
Perfidious Autumn 🍁🍂 🍂🍁

Huddled by the fire I dream of the warmth of a couple of months ago. Even last week there was only need for a light jacket. The sudden drop of temperature has woken us all up to the fact that Winter may still be a month away yet Autumn 🍂 🍁 is a pafidious month! She is treacherous, not to be trusted. Beware the weak sun that holds no warmth.
Autumn avoiding facts
Not meeting your glances
Sneakily she dances.
In rings
A little unashamed advertising

Selma invites participants to Tanka Tuesday’s spring-themed challenge, encouraging the writing of Badger’s Hexastich poems about favorite spring activities. The challenge closes on March 24th.
Selma says : Hi, syllabic poetry family. This is Selma, hosting for Tanka Tuesday. For this week’s challenge we ask participants to think of activities they like to do in the spring season and to write a series of no more than three Badger’s Hexastich on ONE activity.
A Badger’s Hexastich consists of six lines written in 2-4-6-6-4-2 syllables per line. It is unrhymed with optional rising and falling end-words, which I think is an interesting twist. Don’t forget to add a title.”
I love to walk …after two accidents I was nearly consigned to a wheelchair… Luckily I am a stubborn critter and I can still walk 😄. Sadly this year spring is late and how ever far I venture I cannot find her! I am stubborn so I shall not give up.
The search for spring .

Springtime
I love to walk
A pleasure nearly denied
Fate tried but failed to stop me
Crocus purple
Yellow
Springtime
Where’s she hiding?
Winter’s temperatures stay
Blue skies belie minus c
No gentle breeze
Cold wind
I search
The wood and lane
No sign, all buds shut so tight
Against frost and even snow
Please stop hiding
Spring sprites

Its the coldest day of the year ( I know only eight days in ) but it was minus 2c this morning and 2c now early evening! We are doing our bit for mother earth and having the E.V. charger fitted for the new car … An afternoon of no electricity! Thank fully back on now.

This is part of Just Jot it January and One-Liner Wednesday.

As we fall deeper into winter my sister has flown off to her house in Spain. While here I am knee deep in winter chill and dog sitting she is sunning herself!
*******
Me: Any plans for today 💜
Sister: Washing and sitting in the sun reading! 23degs today 😎
Me: Oh! If I was not pissed off before I am now ! It’s -1c here and only likely to rise to 5c and there is rain/snow expected as well 💜
Sister: 😞

Its time for Colleen Chesebro’s Tuesday Tanka Challenge.
Colleen said:”This week, let’s do something different. Using the kigo words from last week’s post HERE, or from the summer (Northern Hemisphere) or winter (Southern Hemisphere) categories from the 500 Kigo Words, write one or a series of kimo poems
The kimo is a tristich, a poem of three lines with 10/7/6 syllables. Kimo is an Israeli version of the haiku. Unrhymed. No title.”
“Also, the kimo is focused on a single frozen image (kind of like a snapshot). So it’s uncommon to have any movement happening in kimo poems.” (David: Skeptic’s Kaddish)”
I have tried to use David’s explanation above and done three Kimo. My Kigo words and phrases are highlighted.
Our weather is more like Autumn than spring/summer… I think we have upset Mother nature.

Dark and dull relentlessly the rain falls.
Wet pigeons shake their feathers
The green lawn is thriving

Summer Susie stands in the wings confused .
Autumn is here too early
Gaia has lost her way

Arthritic pains thrive in this damp weather.
Summer, I should be pain free,
Not looking forward relief.
Be be kind 💜💜💜

Today is Sunday and it’s time for Jim Adam’s Song Lyric Sunday. April 7, 2024– Songs that include the lyrics “cold, frozen, frigid or icy”, suggested by Nancy aka The Sicilian Storyteller
Well I actually had to think hard to come up with songs that actually had the chosen words in the lyrics so well done Nancy this week’s prompt was hard. Well I got there finally I even added freezeinto the mix because I really like this first song FreezeTime.

I can’t find anything about this track but here is what hardstyle is. Hardstyle is an electronic dance genre that emerged in the late 1990s, with origins in the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy. Hardstyle mixes influences from techno, new beat and hardcore. More information here.
“Icy Grl” (pronounced “icy girl”) is the debut single by American rapper Saweetie. It was first released through SoundCloud in 2017, before being released on October 2, 2017, as her debut commercial single and the lead single from her debut EP High Maintenance (2018). The song is a freestyle to “My Neck, My Back (Lick It)” by Khia.
There we go ….Happy Sunday Everyone 💜💜

TankaTuesday Challenges
Our host for Colleen Chesebro’s weekly Tanka Tuesday Challenge said : “Your writing invitation is: Compose a series of three tanka:
Below you will find the three kigo phrases (five syllables each). You can use them as the “turn lines” or “pivots” (third lines) for each of your three tanka, or as the first line of your tanka.
You must use one kigo phrase in each tanka as either the first line or the pivot line in each of your three tanka poems.”
HERE WE GO THREE ‘START OF WINTER HAIKU’.
November rails harsh
The first month with sleet
Fireworks and lost souls wonder
As the world winds down to sleep
Hibernation beckons all

Frozen over now
The first frosts came so early
late winter garden
Nature lies fallow so dark
Harsh winter hides in waiting.

Blanket by the fire
Dropped as you got up to go
The chill got too much
Winter breezes in fiercely
Definitely on her way
