MeCas12a, a Highly Sensitive and Specific System for COVID‐19 Detection

Abstract

A Manganese‐enhanced Cas12a‐based (MeCas12a) system is developed, enabling the limit of detection to reach five copies and high specificity. The MeCas12a can detect severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) well in clinical samples, and distinguish synthetic SARS‐CoV‐2 and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS‐CoV) RNAs, thus offering an alternative diagnosis of infectious diseases including COVID‐19 and MERS.
