The Vekari TTRPG is a lightweight, flexible, and easily customizable TTRPG system that can be adapted for nearly any game. It places a focus on player creativity, encouraging both players and GMs alike to create custom weapons, items, spells, cyberware, and even classes and enemies to suit their needs and playstyles. Play the cyber-fantasy adventure of your dreams and step into the world of Vekari with all of your custom gear for the fight of your life!
Official Formats
Vekari TTRPG comes in 2 formats, with a third in production! Play now using the quick-start guide, a series of 8 printable foldable zines made to simplify the rules and get you started as soon as possible, or using the full PDF/book with more in-depth rulings, lore, maps, and a larger campaign! The game costs $10 CAD to quick-start, or $20 CAD for the full version. An add-on for a GM-less board game using the same TTRPG ruleset is in the works to be added later.
An extremely simplified explanation of the quick-start game rules is available for free here with downloadable character sheets, to reference anytime and keep the game as open and accessible as possible. Programmed tools to aid in running games may also appear here at a later date. Supporting the game helps support all official Vekari projects, including this site!
Unofficial Content and Licensing
With the release of the TTRPG, the world of Vekari as well as the TTRPG mechanics will be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY). This was a big decision, but one that I feel best suits the nature of the world I've created. This means that:
- You are free to copy, redistribute the material in any medium or format for any purpose, even commercially
- You are free to adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially
- The license cannot be revoked, it's permanent.
The only condition is that you must give appropriate credit, provide the link to the license, and indicate any changes that were made in your derivative work. You may do so in any reasonable manner EXCEPT in any way that suggests the licensor (Inkus Alters) endorses you or your use. Basically, give credit for the world/mechanics and then state that the rest is unofficial.
"The world of Vekari" means the story behind the world itself, any maps, characters, and any other material provided about it on this site (vekari.net) that is attributed to Inkus Alters in the credits. It does not include characters or other contributions by other artists unless they specify as such.
Though not a legal restriction, for lack of better way to present the notice given the lack of protections for creators in 2025, the use of generative AI tools such as Midjourney or ChatGPT to create derivative content (or any content in general) are frowned upon and by default not officially endorsed or recommended. For the proper Vekari experience (one built around human creativity), I ask that you avoid supporting projects that may use generative AI tools. And if you do use them, know you missed the entire point :)
It should be noted that vekari.net is the ONLY official Vekari site, and Inkus Alters is the official source for Vekari materials.
Some derivative projects may be hosted here (with permission) as long as they are also using an open source license on the work. So if you'd like to make an expansion and have me list it here so people can find it, go ahead!
If you would like to read the license more in-depth, you can do so here.
The Adventures
Take your adventure wherever speaks to you most! The Vekari TTRPG comes with detailed maps, details about notable locations, notes about potential creatures, and 3 whole countries to explore, which should make for many sessions of unique gameplay! Herrus' existence as the God of Chaos makes nearly anything possible, allowing GMs to insert their own puzzles, plots, and even locations as many are left up to interpretation! You can even share and profit off of the adventures you write, for those who enjoy doing so no matter how much freedom the rules may provide! Projects that are true to the game's lore may be endorsed and promoted at the bottom of this page for others to find!
Forgotten Temple is a one-session adventure included in both the quick-start and full versions of the game that takes players to Griffin Falls, a floating city built around a lone mountain in the ocean in the Western-most reaches of Atraria, to tour and experience the supposedly mystical waterfall running through the center of the mountain. It can be run with or without combat and comes with a new character to meet: Ves Selk, the tour guide from Geo Tra!
Realm of Disciples is a long-term campaign of varying length that is included only in the full version of the game. Players are called to Whiteridge, Asken, in Noxen, with mysterious letters and magical items playing into their greatest desires, to aid the mysterious Durhrys Forge in investigating the source of a series of disappearances and deaths in the area. Players will get really comfy with each other really quickly before being sent off to explore and investigate. Players will find themselves up against the Disciples of Tises and their mutant creations, with the fate of both countries (and potentially Haloran) lying in the party's hands. It is intense, but makes for a fantastic tale.
The Mechanics
Perhaps the most pressing question. How exactly does the Vekari TTRPG differ from other TTRPGs in terms of mechanics?
Vekari does away with set races and classes entirely, allowing players to choose any race they'd like (even fantasy races from other media!), and to construct their own class from the ground up. Instead of picking a class and having set abilities as you level, Herrus' existence throws in a neat twist where players instead select from 1 of 3 randomly chosen abilities and mark off circles on a skill tree, making each character starkly unique and allowing for a near infinite range of classes to build!
Rather than selecting from pre-designed weapons, spells, or other items, players and GMs will make their own using the provided guides. By providing each type of creation a set of attributes rather than tables upon tables of premades, you can apply them to anything you can dream up- from inappropriately-shaped swords to rainbow glitter pistols, and spells that conjure giant exploding paintballs. Your imagination is the limit!
Players can level up jobs, which are entirely separate from their main class. The game comes with the Technician job, allowing you to build your knowledge of electronics, construct cyberware and robotics, and even upgrade your parts with special cyber spells to target other electronics! You can use the general format of the Technician job to build as many jobs as you'd like to offer your players.
Enemies are scaled based on the players, with recommended damage percentages based on max health among party members, armor based on their combined average Attack Dice, and Health based on their strongest attack. Values can be adjusted up or down on the fly for easier or harder encounters. Don't want to do the math? Wing it based on what you think those values would be and adjust as you play, or prepare in advance based on your players' existing sheets! The full version contains some mutant stat blocks to show the general progression of difficulty more clearly.
