Combat isn't the only way to play a roguelike. Sometimes, the enemy is just a bad mood, and your best weapon is a carefully packed box of comforts.

๐Ÿ“ฆ What is Cozy Cargo?

Think Balatro meets Unpacking in a sunlit workshop.

Cozy Cargo is a spatial puzzle roguelike where every box you pack is a new brain-teaser. Drag, rotate, and fit cozy items into irregular cardboard boxes — but placement isn't just about geometry. It's about chemistry.

A Mug of Tea next to Wool Socks? Synergy bonus. A Scented Candle next to an Old Novel? That's a fire hazard — and a score penalty. Every item has tags like [Heat], [Soft], [Vintage], and [Fragile], and the way they interact with their neighbors is the heart of the puzzle.

Build your personal collection of 20 unique items over 14 days. Choose your clients. Push your luck. Pack the perfect box — or at least a pretty good one.

โœจ Features

  • ๐Ÿงฎ Deep Synergy Engine: Items boost or penalize their neighbors based on tags. Flat bonuses, global multipliers, and spatial trade-offs — every cell matters.
  • ๐ŸŽซ Daily Ticket System: Pick your challenge each day — Easy, Normal, or VIP — each with unique grid shapes, score targets, and modifiers. VIP tickets are risky bets that might be impossible to beat. That's the point.
  • ๐Ÿ›’ La Brocante: After each day, browse a small flea-market spread and draft a new item into your collection. Higher-risk tickets unlock more options.
  • ๐Ÿ“œ Daily Modifiers: Some days boost all [Heat] items by 50%. Others ban [Fragile] items entirely. Adapt your packing strategy or fail gracefully.
  • ๐ŸŽจ Cozy Craft: Cel-shaded 3D items, tag-colored outlines, golden-hour lighting, particle feedback, and ASMR audio — every placement feels like a tiny reward.
  • ๐Ÿ˜Œ Zero Frustration: No game over screen. Failing a box just ends your workday quietly. The depth is always there — you choose how deep to go.

๐Ÿงฉ How to Play

  • Drag items from your drawer into the cardboard box.
  • Right-click (or press R) to rotate 90ยฐ.
  • Hover over items to see their tags, synergy rules, and base score.
  • Watch the receipt — your Comfort Score updates live. Base points, synergy bonuses, and multipliers are all broken down.
  • Hit the target? Seal the box and move on to the next day!

Note for macOS users: Due to Apple's security features (Gatekeeper), you will need to perform an extra step to run the game.

  1. After downloading and extracting the .zip file, try to launch Cozy Cargo.app. It will fail to open, which is expected.
  2. Open the Terminal app (you can find it using Spotlight search or in your Applications/Utilities folder).
  3. Copy and paste the following command into the Terminal and press Enter:
    cd ~/Downloads && xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "Cozy Cargo.app"
  4. Note: This command assumes the app is in your "Downloads" folder. If you extracted it elsewhere, please replace ~/Downloads with the correct path.

SUPER fun!!!

Hey thanks a lot ๐Ÿ˜Š Are there specific things you would like to see expanding the game ? :)

oh gee. umm..

i would love some visual settings for the bloom and lighting, as the lighting makes everything *so* pastel it can be a bit blown out and hard to see.
id also love an endless mode, as i acquired a ceramic cat on my last turn and was bummed when the game ended and i never got to use it, but idk how difficult game balancing would be with that

Alright, thank you. Iโ€™ll definitely add those settings as multiple players told me the game looked to bright as well x)

Regarding an endless mode, actually I am currently debating if the game should be endless by nature or not. Would you like that ? Or would you prefer for it to have a clear end and the endless mode to be a separate thing ? Also itโ€™s currently a roguelike meaning that when you lose you start from zero. Would you prefer it as a roguelite, meaning you carry over some benefits from run to run ? Thanks again
