Signs of Love are everywhere

Standard

Washed a radish

and cut the top off.

It came out Love – ely โ™ฅ

What a nice sign! ๐Ÿ™‚

To love and be loved
is to feel the sun
from both sides.

Good bye Thomas

Standard

Our beloved cat Thomas passed away last night.

31.10.2008 – 5.4.2023

We will miss him so much.

He has gone over the Rainbow bridge and will meet all other cats

like little precious Binky.

He was the most wonderful, gentle cat

everyone loved him.

He brought us nothing but joy.

He will always be in our heart.
Thank you Thomas
for the wonderful time
we had together!โ™ฅ
May you rest in peace โ™ฅ

Yet another project – recycling at home

Standard

I always loved the old Doll’s Pram from my Grandmother,

and I was allowed to have it,

as I already – many years ago as a teenager – restored it.

It was housing old dolls in the attic again.

I have now repurposed it.

The plants fit in nicely.

My mum playing with it in 1931.

It is so much fun to recycle/reuse old objects!

Things end,
but memories last forever.

Another project – recycling at home

Standard

This time I recycled an old beautiful suitcase,

found in the attic.

It made a coffee table with some added feet.

I will most likely add a glass top so it is sturdier for the cups.

The suitcase houses all my board games.

I am so glad I could recycle something else from the attic.

It is so much fun to recycle/reuse old objects!

Memories are timeless
treasures of the heart.

The next project – recycling at home

Standard

This time I recycled an old wooden war chest ,

found in the attic.

It made a coffee table with casters as it has handles to move around.

I scrubbed it down a bit and varnished it.

I love the old used look of it.

I wanted to leave the writing on the top of the box.

It says “Richtmaschine” “9809”

It is so much fun to recycle/reuse old objects!

Life is a balance
Of holding on
And letting go.

1982

Standard

In the loft I found 40 year old records of my apprenticeship journals.

I learnt the Hotel Business.

I learnt all aspects like reception, kitchen, serving, bar, clean rooms and running a hotel.

We had to write weekly reports, had them signed by the mentor and by the big boss.

It was fun to read them all again.

Life has changed in this electronic age…..look at that ๐Ÿ™‚

This is how credit cards worked in 1982, the machine imprinted the guest’s and Hotel’s name. There were 3 copies , the last one for the guest, the the other 2 for the CC company and the hotel file.

If you had breakfast in my hotel, your table would look like that in 1981

For lunch and dinner you would find the table like that.

A four course dinner looks like this. It was fish for the 1st course.

You can see the ideal wine glass shape. Cheers!

There were no computers back then.

The Hotel journal was written by hand with a carbon paper and added up in the evening.

All reservations were taken by post or telephone and recorded on a chart.

It is funny to think this life without computers.

I really enjoyed my time in the Hotel with wonderful guests and colleagues.

Sweet memories โ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅ

Did you enjoy your learning journey way back?

Coving nightmare – Don’t give up

Standard

A bit of DIY turned out more complicated than I thought.

I wanted to add coving in my dining room and bought enough for it.

Yes, I have already run out as I cut so many angles the wrong way round. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

The long stretches were fine, now round the chimney breast – it is so difficult.

slide the slider to see both images

Inside angles, outside angles – wrong angles….. nothing fits….

Thomas knows what to do!

Following his example,

I chill,

I source some more coving,

think really hard before cutting,

I know I can do it!

Even if you stumble
you are still going forward!

Even with setbacks

we can go on and achieve the impossible.

Don’t give up whatever you do.

Go for it!
