About UIC

Utah Immigration Collaborative (UIC) began in October 2019 with the goal of streamlining interagency referrals to improve efficiency between non-profit organizations and to increase the availability of affordable, accessible and targeted civil immigration legal assistance for refugees, asylees and immigrants currently living in Utah.

UIC seeks to improve access to the legal representation critical for traditionally-underrepresented clients to achieve safety and stability, and help ensure administration of equal justice as it relates to immigration legal proceedings.

The UIC provides service outreach and recruits additional partners as immigration legal providers across the state of Utah. Through the streamlined multi-lingual UIC Referral Line and increased capacity of Utah immigration legal service providers, hundreds of underrepresented refugees, asylees and immigrants have improved access to competent pro bono immigration legal assistance and representation.

To increase the state-wide availability of immigration legal services and representation, UIC has developed curated virtual immigration law training curricula tailored to licensed attorneys, law school students, diploma privileged candidates, Department of Justice (DOJ) Accredited Representatives, and paralegals interested in providing pro bono legal assistance on UIC immigration cases.

UIC was founded in partnership with Comunidades Unidas, Catholic Community Services of Utah, Holy Cross Ministries, and International Rescue Committee.

UIC is funded by a generous initial investment from the Utah Bar Foundation.
