Change of email address
I’ve been thinking about changing my email address for quite a while, but XScreenSaver’s brilliant privacy policy, covering Google’s privacy abuses, pushed me to make the change.

Another motivation was Google’s move to use LLMs, the training of which can have a very high carbon cost. I am concerned about the carbon cost and environmental impact of the power consumption in datacentres and the demand for hardware involved in LLM training and deployment.
So, I’ve replaced my gmail address with [email protected]. Feel free to drop me a line.
This is my first step in “degoogling”, but it’s significant because a gmail address advertises Google to others. For possible next steps, see switching.software for “Ethical, easy-to-use and privacy-conscious alternatives to well-known software”, e.g. Bye, GMail.
