S-RM had the pleasure of being a gold sponsor at the Global ECP Strategy Hub's Economic Crime Prevention Europe 2026 in Zurich. The team engaged in thought-provoking discussions on the evolving challenges in economic crime prevention alongside compliance leaders, investigators, and technology innovators from across Europe. On the 10th of June, Yannine Pasula moderated a panel discussion on “FCPA Enforcement Guidelines and Priorities: Key Insights for Enhancing Risk Management, Internal Investigations, and Compliance Strategy." This session provided valuable insights into the U.S. Department of Justice’s evolving approach to FCPA enforcement, offering attendees practical guidance on strengthening their compliance frameworks. Later that day, Harriet Lord and Toby Thomas led a roundtable, “Mastering Risk & Due Diligence: Proven Strategies for Complex Enterprises.” Participants explored practical strategies for managing risk and conducting effective due diligence in an increasingly complex global landscape. Thank you to the Global ECP Strategy Hub, collaborators, and participants who made the event a success. It was an excellent platform for exchanging insights and advancing the field of economic crime prevention. If you missed us at the conference or wish to continue the conversation, feel free to reach out to our team - Harriet Lord, Toby Thomas, Yannine Pasula, and Livia Blackmore. #SharperThinking #YourFirstCall #ECPEurope #DueDiligence #Investigations

  • Before breaking for lunch, we wrapped up the morning with a fantastic panel on Secondary Sanctions, Export Controls and Tariffs. Thea D. Rozman Kendler, Partner and Co-Leader of Sanctions & Export Controls, Mayer Brown and Jessica Kaplan, Head of Legal & Compliance, deugro group explored how secondary sanctions, tightening export controls and shifting tariff regimes are reshaping global trade and compliance strategies, and what that means for businesses trying to balance compliance with growth in an increasingly fragmented trade environment. A really thought-provoking way to close out the morning session! #ECPEurope #Sanctions #ExportControls #Compliance #TradeCompliance

  • Two brilliant sessions wrapped up this morning at #ECPEurope! Marco Berger (Crowe Curator) and Juan Antonio De Lassaletta Fernández (Vifor Fresenius Medical Care Renal Pharma) led a really timely discussion on sanctions regimes, export controls and the hidden counterparty risks that can turn a compliant business into an exposed one overnight, giving delegates a practical lens on how to identify hidden exposure and redesign controls to stay ahead of a rapidly shifting enforcement landscape. Running alongside it in the Compliance Working Group Track, Dr. Christof Stolla (Novartis) explored how a strong second line assurance function can independently assess the maturity of compliance and control environments, and how organisations can evaluate fraud risk management maturity under the COSO framework without duplication. A really strong start to day two. Plenty more to come this afternoon! #ECPEurope #Sanctions #SupplyChain #FraudRisk #CorporateAssurance #Compliance

  • Good afternoon from Zurich! 🌤️ What a phenomenal Day One at #ECPEurope! We kicked off with an impactful keynote from the Swiss OAG and UK SFO on the future of global enforcement, and tackled geopolitics in compliance, the hidden FinCrime detection gap, and our specialized AML and AI tracks. Add in a series of packed roundtables and a fantastic networking reception, and the bar is set incredibly high. We are back at the Kongresshaus and moving straight into Day Two with two of the most anticipated sessions on the agenda, back-to-back: 𝗨𝗽 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁: 𝗢𝗙𝗔𝗖 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗥𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗘𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 - In today's volatile geopolitical environment, sanctions regulations are evolving at unprecedented speed. This session provides an essential update on the latest regulatory developments and enforcement actions from the US, UK, and EU, offering practical insights into managing compliance programs and ensuring operational continuity across jurisdictions. Leading the conversation: Tim O'Toole, Member, Miller & Chevalier Chartered Heather Sroka, Senior Director, Global Trade Compliance, Supermicro Katherine Coats, Sanctions Compliance Officer, OFAC Building on that discussion, Ben Frost of Dow Jones Risk & Compliance examined how organisations are adapting their sanctions screening programmes to keep pace with an increasingly complex regulatory environment. As enforcement expectations rise and real-world exposure becomes harder to assess, many organisations are rethinking traditional screening approaches. The session explored how emerging technologies are being applied to address industry-specific risks, improve screening accuracy and speed, and support more effective decision-making. It is shaping up to be another excellent day in Zurich. If you're joining us, make sure to tag us in your posts using #ECPEurope 👇

  • 🔍 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵, 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸-𝘁𝗼-𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱. First up, a sharp look at one of the most persistent gaps in financial crime detection: turning regulatory intelligence into live, calibrated detection rules before it goes stale. The message from the stage was clear. Most institutions already have brilliant intelligence. The real opportunity is closing the gap between the insight you already pay for and the controls actually running in your business. Presented by Charmian Simmons, Principal Strategic Advisor, FinCrime Compliance, SymphonyAI Then straight into a panel on cross-border investigations in an era of geopolitical uncertainty. When the ground shifts beneath you, how do you keep an investigation clean? The panel unpacked how to spot emerging investigative risks early, build strategies flexible enough to hold up when the regulatory picture changes overnight, and maintain integrity and defensibility even when operating under genuine uncertainty. With Insights from: Roi LAVI, Managing Director Europe, Sqope Intelligence Stefano Barone, CFE, Independent Advisor, Financial Crime & Integrity, ACI Nicolas Graber, Founder & Chairman, Graber Advisory Anstalt Michele Poffo - CIA, CISA, CFE, Head of Internal Audit, VAT GROUP Salim Kiwirra, Head of Onboarding Compliance Lifecycle, Bank Vontobel #ECPEurope #FinancialCrime #Investigations #Geopolitics #AML #Compliance

  • 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻. 🌍 Geopolitics has moved from boardroom talking point to live compliance challenge, and this panel didn't shy away from it. From navigating sanctions and trade restrictions to making the case for technology when budgets are under pressure, the conversation was sharp, honest and full of practical takeaways. The consensus? Compliance programmes need to move as fast as the political landscape does. Technology isn't optional, even when resources are stretched. And the compliance functions making the biggest impact are the ones working with the business, not around it. Thank you to five brilliant panelists for a session that set the bar high. Klaus Moosmayer, Member of the Supervisory Board, Deutsche Bank Thomas Schönholzer, Group General Counsel, The Swiss Post Ltd Adrian Mom, Partner & Managing Director, AlixPartners Peter Maerkl, Group General Counsel, Bitcoin Suisse AG Brittany Schwertberger, Chief Compliance Officer, TradeXBank #ECPEurope #Compliance #Geopolitics #Sanctions #GeneralCounsel
