What if the moments that knock you off course are the moments that help you grow? Some leadership conversations are worth revisiting. In this re-released episode of The Connected Leadership Podcast by Zentano, Dave talks to Scott Garrett Raising EIS for VitaVoice about purpose, resilience and the courage to make a change when success on paper no longer feels like success in reality. Scott's journey is anything but conventional, from touring musician, to education leader, to entrepreneur. Along the way, he discovered that setbacks can do one of three things: Define you. Destroy you. Or Develop you. We explore: • Finding your 'why' and creating a career around what genuinely matters • Why resilience is about learning and adapting, not simply enduring • What leaders can learn from musicians about trust, culture and creativity • The courage it takes to step into the unknown • How to turn difficult experiences into opportunities for growth It's a conversation about purpose, but also about leadership, identity and the choices we make when the path ahead isn't clear. What are you allowing your most difficult experiences to do to you? • Culture doesn't improve because you measure it. It improves because leaders are prepared to understand the uncomfortable truth and then act on it. In part 2 of our conversation with Matt Robinson from CultureNav, we explore what organisations can do once they uncover the truth about their culture. We discuss why communication is consistently the biggest challenge, why accidental managers are a common blocker, and how small behavioural changes often have a far greater impact than expensive transformation programmes. One idea that really stood out was Matt's challenge to leaders to simply go and speak to ten people about their organisation's values. Ask how those values influence what they do every day. The answers will tell you far more than a most surveys ever could. If culture really does drive performance, then understanding what's happening beneath the surface isn't optional. • Culture isn't created by free coffee, nice office spaces or employee benefits. It's created by the decisions people make every single day. In our latest Voices of Leadership episode, Dave is joined by culture specialist Matt Robinson to explore why organisational culture has become one of the biggest competitive advantages available to businesses today. The conversation explores: • Why culture and engagement aren't the same thing. • The gap between the culture organisations think they have and the one employee’s experience. • Why measuring culture starts with asking better questions. This is Part One of a fascinating two-part conversation that challenges many of the assumptions organisations make about culture. How well do you truly understand your workplace culture? • Are we asking the wrong question about Gen Z? Many organisations ask: “How do we manage different generations with different needs and perspectives” In our latest Voices of Leadership episode, Francesca Wild -Brown suggests that's the wrong question entirely. Instead, leaders should be asking: How do we create workplaces where different generations understand each other, learn from one another and succeed together? It's a subtle shift in language, but one that changes everything. In this conversation we explore: • Why confidence is often built through exposure rather than personality. • Why organisations should hire for potential, not polish. • The importance of social mobility in unlocking hidden talent. • How curiosity and reverse mentoring create stronger organisations. • Practical ways leaders can build workplaces that benefit every generation. If we're serious about developing future leaders, we need to stop trying to make everyone fit into a convenient box and start creating environments where different perspectives strengthen our people and our performance. We'd love to hear your thoughts. What do you think is the biggest misconception organisations have about younger generations? https://lnkd.in/eYRuZdQZ Also this will be our very first episode we are posting to YouTube! • High performance shouldn't come at the cost of your people. Many organisations unintentionally create cultures where constant pressure becomes the norm. Leaders are permanently busy and long hours become a badge of honour. In the latest episode of The Connected Leadership Podcast, Rich and Dave explore why constant pressure is unhealthy, and the antidote is emotional intelligence. The discussion explores: • The hidden drivers behind over-functioning leaders • Why busyness is not the same as adding value • The difference between pressure and accountability • How recovery is an essential part of high performance One idea sits at the heart of the conversation: https://lnkd.in/eYRuZdQZ High accountability creates performance. High pressure eventually destroys it. If you're leading a team, this episode offers practical ideas for creating healthier, more sustainable performance: #ConnectedLeadership #Leadership #EmotionalIntelligence #LeadershipDevelopment #HighPerformance #OrganisationalCulture

  • What if one of the most powerful leadership tools isn't your well-crafted strategy. It’s the voice you communicate it with? In our latest Voices of Leadership episode, Dave is joined by internationally trained opera singer and vocal coach Aidan Smith to explore the surprising connection between voice, confidence, and impactful leadership. This conversation goes far beyond presentation skills. Together they discuss: • Why your voice reflects your internal emotional state. • How breath influences confidence under pressure. • Why authentic presence beats performative confidence every time. • The role of humility, self-awareness and resilience in becoming an exceptional leader and communicator. • Practical techniques leaders can use immediately before important meetings and presentations. One idea really stood out: "If you want to unlock your best leadership, the route to that is to unlock your voice." If you're responsible for leading people, influencing others, or communicating through change and uncertainty, this episode offers a completely fresh and compelling perspective. Is your organisation set up to attract and keep talented people? If all you care about is profitability, the answer is probably no. In the latest episode of the Connected Leadership Podcast, Dave speaks with Claire Thayers, one of Gloucestershire's leading advocates for social value, community collaboration and responsible business. Claire challenges the idea that social value is simply about procurement or compliance. Instead, she argues that organisations become stronger when they genuinely invest in the people and places around them. The conversation explores: • Why doing good is good for business • The commercial case for community engagement • Building partnerships that benefit everyone • Why connected businesses build stronger communities One comment from the episode particularly stayed with us: "Social value isn't important because it helps you win contracts. It's important because it creates better organisations, better leaders and ultimately a better world." Whether you lead a small business, a charity or a large organisation, this conversation offers practical ideas and genuine inspiration: https://lnkd.in/eYRuZdQZ #ConnectedLeadership #Leadership #SocialValue #BusinessForGood #Community #LeadershipDevelopment #Zentano

  • Most change programmes don't fail because the strategy was wrong. They fail because communication breaks down, uncertainty grows, and trust begins to erode. In our latest episode of The Connected Leadership Podcast, Dave speaks with employment lawyer Steve Conlay about what leaders often get wrong during organisational change and what they can do differently. This is a practical conversation about communication, culture, trust and leading people through uncertainty. How does your change management measure up, listen to find out more: https://lnkd.in/eYRuZdQZ #ConnectedLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #ChangeManagement #Leadership #OrganisationalChange
