📣 We're pleased to share the appointment of IASME as a new Licensed Body of the UK Cyber Security Council.   Our Licensed Bodies are expert organisations, appointed by the Council to assess applications for our professional cyber security titles. 📑 The House of Lords has now held its Second Reading debate on the Cyber Security and Resilience (Networking and Information Systems) Bill - an important step in bolstering the UK's approach to cyber resilience. It was encouraging to hear peers from across the House recognise the importance of an essential component of cyber resilience: the people responsible for the security of the public services we rely on. During the debate, there was strong, cross-party consensus which highlighted the importance of: ✅ Clear, unified professional standards for the cyber security sector. ✅ Investing in, and developing the UK's cyber workforce and cyber skills. ✅ Building a trusted, capable and recognised cyber security profession. Several peers also questioned how the Bill should define a skilled cyber security professional, and how organisations and government can identify, recognise and assure cyber capability. These are hugely important questions, since any new regulations and frameworks depend on the knowledge, judgement and professionalism of the people implementing them. At the UK Cyber Security Council, we work alongside our Licensed Bodies and partners across government and industry to develop nationally recognised professional standards, independently assess competence, and support professional registration across the cyber sector. It's encouraging to see these themes becoming an increasingly prominent part of the wider parliamentary conversation as the Bill progresses through its next stages. We'll continue to follow the Bill's progress, and engage with the ongoing parliamentary discussion to ensure that professional standards and investment in the cyber security profession remain a key part of strengthening the UK's cyber resilience. #CyberSecurity #CyberResilience #CyberProfession
