"I cannot fault the service that Remo provided. His knowledge, skill set and ability to communicate with me and the team were exemplary." Paul Hilder, Head of Finance at Rescue2. Rescue2 began the Cyber Essentials Plus process with documented controls, supported systems and IT support in place. Independent testing helped validate those controls, identify areas for improvement and strengthen the organisation's overall security posture. Reflecting on the experience, Paul shares this advice: "Cyber Essentials is something I would strongly recommend every organisation to look at and try, even if you are unsure you will pass first time. Once you go through the audit process, you realise how fundamental cyber security is to almost every business today." The result was improved cyber security and successful achievement of Cyber Essentials Plus certification. A deep understanding of the controls, experience of scoring, and experience to maximise efficiencies - all help too. Would you benefit from independent security testing? Cyber Essentials Plus involves independent testing to verify security controls are working as intended. Rescue2 went into the Cyber Essentials Plus assessment in a strong position - with supported systems, documented controls, and IT support on hand. However, independent testing identified three findings for attention: - MFA - Firewall configuration - Vulnerabilities Working alongside Rescue2 and their IT provider, RB Consultancy Ltd helped identify, prioritise and address these findings quickly. This resulted in risk reduction, increased confidence and successful achievement of Cyber Essentials Plus certification. This highlights huge benefits of Cyber Essentials Plus: organisations with mature controls, and third party IT support, can gain valuable insight and increased confidence through independent testing. A number of certification body’s can assess DCC L1, however only a small number have successfully completed an assessment. We have. Our lead assessor is a Chartered cyber security professional, ISO 27001 certified, with experience of supporting 125+ organisations worldwide. We’re also clear and transparent on how we take an organisation through a DCC Level 1 assessment: 1. We align on our role and agree commercial arrangements 2. You define the scope, prepare and share the evidence 3. We review and align on Cyber Essentials and DCC scope 4. We carry out an initial review of the controls and score against the evidence you provide - clarifying status and will consider additional evidence 6. Then we move to practical demonstration, where you show how the controls are in place 7. Certification decision follows This process is straightforward and practical - built on experience, with a clear understanding of the controls. RB Consultancy Ltd has successfully completed a Level 1 assessment through to certification. You have the opportunity to put that experience to work on your DCC L1 assessment too. Looking for more confidence in your cyber security? Rescue2 provide confined space rescue services for water utilities, power generation, national infrastructure and other demanding sectors. As information is moved, shared and stored - it needs to be secure. They're focused on 3 pillars: Start Safe. Work Safe. Home Safe. Increasingly, customers and supply chain partners need confidence that the organisations they work with take cyber security seriously. To demonstrate that commitment, Rescue2 achieved Cyber Essentials Plus certification with support from RB Consultancy Ltd. Cyber Essentials Plus involves independent checks on key systems and devices to assess their resilience against common cyber threats. Head of Finance Paul Hilder explained why it mattered: "Somewhere in that chain, there is going to be a risk. All we can do is make sure it is not us." RB Consultancy Ltd guided Rescue2 through the process, working with them and their IT provider to achieve Cyber Essentials Plus certification. IASME published a case study: https://lnkd.in/eszaytiE If your organisation wants to demonstrate cyber security measures to customers, suppliers or supply chain partners, we can help: https://lnkd.in/eVs5wgFQ #CyberEssentials #SupplyChainSecurity #CyberSecurity

DCC follows a structured process, with very few organisations having completed assessments for Level 0 and Level 1. Both of these levels start with Cyber Essentials, then move on to scope alignment - where the applicant and assessor align on how the applicants organisation operates. From there, the path looks different. At Level 0, there are 3 controls to work through - all need to be evidenced clearly and aligned to the applicants scope. At Level 1, the scale steps up sharply. A much larger set of controls (101) are brought together through the Assessment Submission Record (ASR), with theoretical and practical scoring being required steps of the audit. That's why in practice, a Level 1 assessment will run across multiple days - in order to to review, validate, report and coordinate. If you're applying for Level 1, make sure you build in time for the audit - so controls, evidence and scope all align and are clearly demonstrated. If you would like a clear view of what that the process will look like for your organisation - book a meeting: https://lnkd.in/d-apQgJG #DCC #DefenceCyberCertification #DefenceSupplyChain #CyberSecurity #CyberEssentials #Audit #RBConsultancyLtd

DCC Level 1 is a significant step up from Level 0 - this is why: - Level 0 focuses on 3 controls - Level 1 focuses on 101 controls and introduces the ASR Having worked through both levels of assessment for organisations, at RB Consultancy Ltd, we understand the difference in theory and in practice. That experience makes a big difference, especially at Level 1: - Deep, practical knowledge of the controls - End to end understanding of the process - Pain points to avoid - Hurdles to look out for - A clear route to successful certification Are you preparing for a DCC audit? One of the biggest questions with DCC is which level to target, and when. The answer is almost always linked to risk. The level an organisation needs is set by the risk it presents within the defence supply chain. Whichever that is, the advice is: do not delay. Starting early gives you the opportunity to work through it properly. Leaving it late usually means doing a lot under pressure. We’re assessing organisations at levels 0 and 1. Some are targeting Level 1 now and others are working to Level 0 by the end of the year. We support both. If you’re deciding which level to work to, leave a comment or message us at RB Consultancy Ltd. A conversation with our lead assessor can clear uncertainty, save you time and cost. #DCC #DefenceCyberCertification #DefenceSupplyChain #CyberSecurity #CyberCompliance #CyberEssentials #RBConsultancyLtd
