About us
Rapid Fluidics Ltd was established in 2020 to provide a design and rapid-prototyping consultancy service to customers with a need for microfluidic systems. We've developed a novel way to rapidly and accurately produce prototype microfluidic test cards. This offers companies developing microfluidic products a range of fluidic building blocks, and a much faster iteration cycle through designs before committing to mould tooling. We work with customers to realise their process into a product. We can help at any stage of the development, from establishing user requirements; design, build and test of prototype instrumentation to design for mass production and selection of manufacturing partners. Reliable microfluidic experiments begin with reliable flow. In our latest demonstration, we paired a Rapid Fluidics vascular chip with Blacksheep Sciences embedded pressure-control platform to show how stable, well-controlled pressure translates into consistent flow behaviour within a physiologically relevant microfluidic network. The videos captured throughout testing showed two important stages: A clear, predictable split of a single liquid stream through the vascular chip, demonstrating uniform flow distribution under stable operating conditions. The transport of 20 µm PLGA microparticles through the same network, providing a robust baseline for studying particle behaviour before introducing more complex conditions such as flow restriction, occlusion or pressure changes. For researchers developing vascular models, establishing this baseline is essential. It provides confidence that any changes observed during an experiment are driven by the biology or the test conditions—not by inconsistencies in fluid delivery. It's a great example of how high-performance microfluidic chips and precise pressure control work together to generate reproducible, meaningful data.
