Most of us are familiar with how our immune systems fight off infections. But when infections become chronic, they can evade or tire out our immune defenses.   Researchers – including ours – are investigating how modern immunotherapies may help address chronic infectious diseases.   In the case of our #ImmTAV technology, the approach is to reveal tiny pieces of viral protein on infected cells, attach to them, and destroy the cell.   If it works, the viral reservoirs of chronic infections, such as #HIV, could be eradicated. #Immunology #InfectiousDisease #Biotech #LikeIMCR

Understanding how the immune system identifies different diseases is fundamental to our research. One protein that we know is critical to the biology of certain cancers is PRAME.   PRAME is found inside the cell rather than on the surface, so it is ‘invisible’ to traditional antibody therapies. However, fragments of the PRAME protein are presented on the cell surface by HLA molecules. This creates a ‘flag’ that T cell receptors can recognize.   Some of our molecules are engineered to locate PRAME on the cell surface, guiding the immune system to patients’ cancer cells.   #Immunology #TCellResearch #Biotech   #IMCRSharing
