"Kazakhstan is moving early and fast on AI and digital transformation, ranking 1st in Central Asia for AI readiness. This digital momentum signals a highly transparent and predictable operating environment for global investors. The EBRD is proud to be a partner in this journey," said our Odile Renaud-Basso, whilst addressing the 38th Foreign Investors’ Council during her visit to the country this week. In talks with Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, Odile Renaud-Basso and EBRD delegation discussed expanding cooperation across infrastructure, digitalisation, and business support. Our investments in Kazakhstan are poised to exceed a record €1.3 billion this year alone. We also signed a new MoU with sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna Invest LLP to align major strategic investment projects with international, fair-competition procurement rules and extended a €43.4 million financing package with KMF Bank, backed by the government, to champion local MSMEs and women-led businesses.   President Renaud-Basso visited milestone infrastructure projects in Almaty, including the BAKAD Ring Road (the region’s largest PPP), the new airport terminal, and the CHP-2 gasification project, which will drastically improve local air quality. A big thank you to our partners and the government of Kazakhstan. We look forward to deepening our collaboration to build a greener, digital, and more inclusive future for the region.

We are helping young people in Egypt understand the importance of water conservation and how they can play a role in protecting vital resources, together with the European Union. As part of the Kitchener depollution programme, more than 2,000 students in Gharbeya, Daqahleya and Kafr El Sheikh have taken part in an awareness campaign on water use, waste reduction and pollution prevention. In Kafr El Sheikh alone, 600 children joined the Nilous Camp Adventures, learning through fun and interactive activities how small actions can help build cleaner, more sustainable communities. Together with The EU Delegation to Egypt and EU Neighbours South, we are supporting a future where every drop counts.

Glad to see the approval of our new €160 million Resilient Water Systems programme in the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan, supported by the Green Climate Fund. #GCFB45 While expanding access and rehabilitating infrastructure remain essential, the challenge has evolved: ensuring water systems can continue to deliver reliable services amid climate uncertainty, more frequent shocks and growing pressure on resources. The new programme provides an opportunity to demonstrate what climate-resilient water systems can look like in practice and how resilience can be integrated into water sector planning and investment. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the GCF to help communities across the #EBRDregions. https://lnkd.in/eSMbNaaG

At the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026, the EBRD and its donors reaffirmed a shared commitment to supporting Ukraine's resilience, recovery and long-term reconstruction. Across the conference, new agreements strengthened support for Ukraine's energy security, renewable energy, critical infrastructure, private sector development, financial institutions and reform agenda. These efforts are made possible through close partnerships with the European Commission, Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Ministère des Affaires étrangères français, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and many other international partners. We are proud to work alongside our donors to turn commitments into tangible projects that strengthen Ukraine today while laying the foundations for a more resilient, competitive and sustainable future.

At the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk, we've announced over €500 million in new investments to support Ukraine’s resilience and recovery — bringing our total wartime support to more than €10.5 billion. As Ukraine’s largest institutional investor, we are backing the real economy across all sectors — from energy security and renewable capacity to finance for businesses and support for cities on the frontline. These new commitments will help: • strengthen energy infrastructure and energy security • support SOEs • unlock finance for the financial sector, SMEs and sustain jobs • support municipalities in maintaining essential services At a critical moment, the EBRD continues to mobilise partners and deliver at scale — supporting Ukraine today while laying the foundations for its future recovery and EU integration. Thank you to all our #EBRDdonors for their support. #URC2026
