One of the most recognisable skyscrapers in the world, Marina Bay Sands brings together architecture, infrastructure and engineering at an unprecedented scale. A rooftop SkyPark® is an engineering marvel sitting at 200m high above the skyline, spanning 340m in length across luxury hotel towers. From record-breaking structures to challenging ground conditions, we coordinated every detail to deliver confidence and performance in our design. And when the right choices are made early, the impact lasts far beyond completion. Read more: https://bit.ly/3S0jc4S #WeAreArup

How do you create a museum experience that visitors can truly hear as well as see? At the newly opened Shenzhen Natural History Museum, acoustics play a vital role in bringing stories of science and nature to life. As South China’s largest natural history museum, the landmark development features the 279-seat Dome Theatre, the 262-seat cinema with a 17m x 9m LED screen, the 508-seat Nature Theatre, and the 150-seat 4D theatre, each with its own unique acoustic requirements. We worked with the wider project team to provide acoustics consultancy across the development, helping to deliver clear speech, immersive sound and pleasant listening environments throughout the visitor journey. Through advanced computer modelling and detailed acoustic design, we balanced the needs of multimedia presentations, educational programmes and live productions, while ensuring neighbouring spaces remain acoustically separated. The result is a rich and engaging experience that allows visitors to focus on discovery, learning and wonder. How can new infrastructure reconnect a town and unlock growth? Before Gull Wing Bridge was built, frequent bridge openings across Lowestoft created congestion and disrupted movement between the north and south of the town. The new crossing provides a vital new route across Lake Lothing, improving connectivity for residents, businesses and visitors while creating new regeneration opportunities. At its centre is a distinctive rolling bascule bridge with a 38m span engineered to open in under two minutes, balancing efficient movement with continued maritime access to the Port of Lowestoft. The result is infrastructure designed to improve everyday life and support future prosperity. Water shapes the health of our communities, economies and ecosystems. As pressures on water systems continue to grow, collaboration is essential to building a more resilient, equitable and regenerative future. At World Water Week 2026 in Stockholm, we are proud to support the event as a funding partner and contribute to the dialogue under this year's theme, Water for People and Progress. Across the week, our speakers will join discussions exploring the policies, partnerships and solutions needed to address today's most pressing water challenges and unlock long-term progress. Join us in Stockholm or online. Explore the full programme and register to attend in person or stream sessions online: https://lnkd.in/eKznD7zW #WeAreArup

What if rail could do more for the places it serves? In an increasingly complex environment, railways play a wide role – supporting economic growth, enabling sustainable development and shaping how cities and regions evolve. We work with governments, operators and delivery partners to turn that ambition into reality. From how programmes are funded to how they are designed, delivered and maintained, we help unlock greater value at every stage. Combining 80 years of global, cross-sector experience and multidisciplinary expertise, we create rail systems that are resilient, integrated and ready for the future – designed to perform reliably, adapt to change and deliver long-term benefits. We work in partnership to connect investments to national priorities, support better outcomes for communities and realise the full potential of rail over the long term. Reimagine the possibilities. #WeAreArup

An Olympic icon, designed to do more. Behind the Water Cube’s distinctive façade is a high-performing, resilient system. Its bubble-inspired exterior captures solar energy to help heat the pools and interior spaces, while reducing lighting demand by up to 55% and conserving water in a resource-constrained environment. More than a landmark, it’s a showcase of long-term performance built in from the start. Find out more: https://bit.ly/4hTCh34 #WeAreArup

The most successful places bring together people, nature and the built environment. Factors such as temperature, sunlight, airflow and comfort have a significant influence on how people experience a space, even when they're not consciously aware of them. Through sensory design, our specialists help clients better understand these human experiences and use them to inform design decisions that create more comfortable, resilient and inclusive places. Cities around the world have embraced the idea of the sponge city. Yet implementing sponge city measures at scale remains a challenge. Drawing on perspectives from clients and collaborators at DC Water, Earth Finance and Xylem, our latest Insights piece explores four barriers that continue to slow progress: - Delivering interventions in complex urban environments - Creating funding models that reflect shared value - Demonstrating measurable outcomes - Aligning stakeholders around a common vision The future of sponge cities will depend on more than green infrastructure alone. It requires integrated systems that combine infrastructure, technology, governance and communities. #WeAreArup

Engineering the spectacular glass façade of Brisbane’s Glasshouse Theatre. Collaborating with Blight Rayner Architecture in partnership with Snøhetta and Lendlease, we provided multidisciplinary engineering on the new theatre project for the Department of Housing and Public Works. The theatre fills the city corner block, and to maximise interior space its foyers cantilever seven metres over the streets. This design required careful engineering and an intricate understanding of how materials move together and respond over time. The steel foyer structure suspends four storeys of rippling glass façade, supported by a tapered post-tensioned concrete transfer slab. To ensure the cantilever wouldn’t move during the glass installation, we pre-loaded the roof with weights and monitored installation with regular surveys to control cantilever movement. The recently completed TP-Link LXD campus in Shenzhen is reimagining the workplace. Featuring prominently along the development's exterior is a one-kilometer ‘landscape ribbon’ that connects offices, amenities, recreation spaces, and outdoor terraces across three interconnected towers. The result is a highly collaborative, campus-like environment that encourages movement and connection throughout the building. Our structural engineering teams in New York City and Shenzhen helped bring this vision to life, working with KPF, through an integrated engineering approach that balances design ambition, constructability, and efficiency. As workplaces continue to evolve, projects like TP-Link LXD illustrate how thoughtful engineering and multidisciplinary design can create healthier, more connected environments for people.
