Gold and critical minerals have moved from commodity markets into the centre of industrial strategy. The next phase of Uganda–UK mining investment begins in London, September 2026 They now shape clean energy, supply-chain security, defence resilience, digital infrastructure, manufacturing and UK–Africa investment opportunity. The old mining model is no longer enough. Extract, export, sell and repeat will not deliver the full value Africa can capture. Extraction is only the starting point. Industrial competitiveness comes from what happens after mining. Selling raw minerals captures limited economic benefit.
