Slowing down

For a few weeks I will be slowing down, and recouping my strength.

My husband is taking a little 'holiday' in this lovely Nursing Home not far away, where he is being looked after very well. Sadly I've run out of the energy needed to cope with his needs at the moment, and although we hate being apart it's necessary for me to be fit for surgery, (whenever that is)

They are very strict about testing, and I had to have a lateral flow test and wait outside for 30 minutes. I didn't mind at all, anything to beat the virus has to be good. The Home takes a maximum of 30 clients. The rooms are pleasant, if not huge. they have a Television set, and a comfy chair to relax in. I was able to spend the lunchtime with my husband and he enjoyed a very good home cooked meal.

Visitors are allowed provided they are tested first. There is a nice little garden where they can visit if the weather is fine.

So now I'm wandering around the house, mentally waiting for Carers to come, or for medication times. Probably watching Wimbledon is the better option!

I will be reading your posts but probably not writing a great deal.

The Nursing Home looks and sounds like a fine place where your husband will be well cared for. I hope you can rest and get ready for the upcoming surgery.

Rest and regain your spiritual strength for your upcoming surgery. I am happy that you found such a lovely place for your Hubby to stay for a few days.

God bless.

Rest and regain your strength, dear friend. You are both in our thoughts and prayers. We appreciate that it is hard to be apart, but you know he is well cared for. Hoping the op is sorted soon 🙏❤️

We all need time for rest, especially when we are the main carer for a loved one. I hope your break will be restful for you Barbara. Enjoy your garden, rest, watch Wimbledon.

Sorry to read that your batteries are running low, Barbara; hopefully your enforced rest will recharge them so that you will be as strong as possible for the forthcoming surgery. I'm glad that restrictions have eased, so that you are able to spend precious time with Malcolm. So important for you both. Hopefully the sun will reappear so that you can relax in your lovely garden - enjoying it, not working!! Thinking of you both and wishing you well. - Rosemary x

Take care and every strength. It is especially hard to be alone if ill - and yes, the whole COVID things makes everything so much more stressful

Hello Barb. Checking in on you. I can "hear" how weary you are. Respite care is a gift for those taking care of others. I hope you rest and regain your strength. We visited friends in Texas this week. The last time we saw our friend was the summer of 2018. We figured that it was our good-bye since he was dealing with a rare cancer. How thankful we were to get see him again. His wife is his main care giver and not only does she take care of him, but now she helps him care for 70 acres of pasture and a small herd of cattle, something that she never would have done in years past. She never even had to cary out the trash. It is exhausting to care for another. I'll be checking in on you again.

Hope you get both a good re-charge, it's a wise move. It's great that you have somewhere good for your husband to have respite care - I'm looking all the time for somewhere suitable for my dad- it's hard to find one you're happy with. God bless

Dear Barbara,
Thank you for your comment on my post alerting me. I don't know why your posts were not showing up in my Feedly, but I hope I've corrected the issue now. I thought that perhaps you were not posting and taking it easy before your surgery.
Your bedroom looks lovely and calm, and I enjoyed seeing your peonies and other garden flowers.
take care,
Lorrie
