Update

It seems a long time since I did a post. Lack of energy has a lot to do with it.
But after three weeks  on antibiotics I am feeling better.
My husband is home from the Nursing home now and says that being home is the best.

He has now been classified as needing more Care at home and we now have two carers three times a day.
Getting used to this new regime is interesting.

We are fortunate to have that amount of care, as many agencies have been turning clients away due to the lack of staff.
Always cheerful, our carers treat my husband with dignity mixed with a bit of fun also. I love to hear them laughing together.

However, the job itself is not done for a reward as carers are notoriously poorly paid, which seems appalling when one considers the amount of responsibility they have.

I will be back with a more interesting post soon, maybe if the garden ever dries out and I can tell you what is happening there. We do have Snowdrops which give me enormous pleasure..

Many thanks to the lovely friends who have posted comments or sent messages asking how we are.
I do appreciate it.

So glad to see you here this morning Barbara. Knowing you are much better and that hubby is back home again is so good.

Yes, I so agree that those wonderful 'visiting angels' as they are often called here, give so much needed care, and with joy and laughter. They are never paid enough for their wonderful work - very sad.

Hope all continues well and that the coming of Spring will raise your spirits, bringing
sunny days and blooming flowers to your garden.
Stay well -
Hugs, Mary

So glad for you that hubby is home, it looks like you have excellent care - I know many people don't have this level and you are right, these people are undervalued financially but my goodness they do a good and important job. Looking forward to seeing what's going on in your garden. Betty

My dear friend...so happy to read your post! My prayers have been with you and your husband during this time. I can certainly add that carers are paid poorly and unfortunately, they are not well trained due to this. But the ones I have had for my daughter, have been wonderful and loving towards her. So good to have you back sweet Barbara, you have been missed! Blessings from my cottage to yours... Maria

I'm so glad you are feeling better and that your husband is home with you. It's good that carers will come in to help you, as caring for someone can be overwhelming. Like Brenda, I pray for daily grace.
Snowdrops are such lovely things, arriving just when the world seems wet and bleak; their beauty cheers me no end.

It's so good to read that Malcolm is now back home and that you and he are getting the help that is needed. I'm guessing that you have to be sure to be up and ready for the first visit and that meals, shopping, etc have to be carefully timed to fit in with the new routine. My friend has a carer who comes each day to help her to shower and get ready for bed - at about 5.30pm, so Val gets up again to sit and watch TV, drink tea and have a small snack before going back to bed!

It was good to see this post from you, Barbara. You have been through such a lot. It's good to know that you have the suppprt that you and M need to support him at home. As surely as the snowdrops and crocuses promise spring and our returm to the garden, I hope the improvements at home herald a return for you to all the things you love.

I am happy that you are continuing to recover . . . and I am thankful that your husband is getting the extra care that he needs! What a blessing that must be to you both! (I'd say that this post is quite interesting to those who care about your well being!)

I do hope you have full healing soon! Pleurisy is so incredibly painful. Praying for you and your dear husband, my friend! God is good to have sent you multiple caregivers. And you are right. They are underpaid. We've experienced this ourselves years ago with our daughter and her care givers. Much love to you! {{hugs}}
