GUEST SPOT BEST OF 2012 - 'Singing Bear'

In the essence of our blog, we asked a few friends and blogs we follow to share with us their top tracks of the year. We are always interested in what makes people musically tick and hear the stories associated with them. At the same time maybe learn a thing or to or maybe catch something we've missed. So a big thank you to you all for taking the time to contribute.

We have the mighty 'Singing Bear' from the musically eclectic blog, 'Grown Up Backwards'. He reveals about his choices that "There is not a lot I want to say about them because they are so good they speak for themselves". However, for a comprehensive round-up of Singing Bears best of 2012, just click the link above to visit his blog. Boom!

Joey Burns & Kurt Wanger

What do you get when you have two of your favourite groups, Calexico and Lambchop performing together one of your favourite Dylan songs. Well the answer is a whole Lotta Lotta  pleasure. Kurt Wagner the main man of Lampchop joined Calexico on stage and they performed these two fabulous covers. Does it get any better?

DYLAN COVERS #30 - LAMBCHOP - You're a big Girl now(Band&Accoustic) Plus bonus

LAMBCHOP - You're a big Girl now(Acoustic)

Where's Kurt ?
LAMBCHOP - You're a big Girl now (Band Version)

I first got into Lambchop during the Nixon era, not the early seventies during Mr Nixon's 'discretions' but from their 2000 album 'Nixon' I was immediately hooked on main man Kurt Wagnor's deep tones and their low key sounds, brilliant stuff. I have been a fan ever since.

The Acoustic version was recorded in a Hotel room in Paris and is definitely an interesting take on the tune.

The Band version is from Nuremberg Germany on the 23 Oct 2008 and captures the beautiful low key trademark sound scape of Lambchop. Not to be missed, stunning.

'You're a big Girl now' comes from Dylan's 'Blood on the Tracks(1975)' album

Oh! one for the road I found this by chance ....this did blow me out! big time!

Lambchop - 'Up With People'

Recollection Collection......musical memories recalled with affection!

Lambchop - 'Up With People' (2000)

I heard this coming home from work in torrential rain the other day, it had been a while since I heard it and forgotten how good this song is. We are definately a vitamin D deficient nation and what better way than to inject some sunshine into your life than by listening to Lambchop's gorgeous 'Up With People'. Taken from 2000's Nixon album, it's a great example of how music can lift your mood, with Kurt Wagner's melodic voice over a simple guitar hook, soul clap and the horns and gospel choir finale it's real humous for the soul!

This'll do nicely, whilst we wait for summer to kick in, in the vain hope that it wasn't just those 3 days in April.

Thursday I'm in love....a chance to share some of my favourite tracks!
