Tiny Navajo Takes a Break!

Hey guys! Just an FYI, I’m actually surprised I’m remembering to do this, but! I’m actually going on vacation for the next two weeks, and I honestly forgot to write any posts for this Wednesday and next. So, this is a small post to tell you why there won’t be any reviews for a couple of weeks, but then I’ll be back on it!

In the meantime, what do you bring for entertainment while on vacation? My go-to is books, as well as some downloaded YouTube videos. I also bring my journal so I can write about my days and how I’m feeling.

Tiny Navajo Writes: March Update

Hey my peeps! It’s the first Monday of April and it’s time for the March Update. I’m starting to feel much more optimistic about the coming future, and it is helping that Spring is here/on it’s way. My tulips have started to bloom, my lilies are coming up, and my pansies are (surprisingly) still alive after this past winter! And things in general are looking up, so yay!

Either way, the month of March, I read a total of 15 books; 9 books, 4 comics/graphic novels, and 2 audiobooks. I will say that 15 books is actually pretty good for me this past month, and it helps that I’m reading a lot of books that are “required” for me due to Sequoyah Team. Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying those books, but it’s nice to have a hard reason to read books that I possibly wouldn’t have the mental capacity to read at this moment in time. AND I’m getting a lot of books to (possibly) use in a program idea I have come the Fall. Anyway! Onto the titles of the books I’ve read this past month.

I read A Complicated Love Story Set in Space by Shaun David Hutchinson, Persephone Station by Stina Leicht, Don’t Tell a Soul by Kirsten Miller, Bloom by Kevin Panetta, Sleepless Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 by Sarah Vaughn, Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo, Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas, If I Never Met You by Mhairi McFarlane, The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary, One of the Good Ones by Maika Moulite and Martiza Moulite, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Vol. 1 by Alan Moore, Muted by Tami Charles, The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna, and The Awakening of Malcolm X by Ilyasah Shabazz. All of these books were interesting and quite a few struck a cord of some sort while I was reading them.

I do know that while March was a good month for reading, it all resets this month and we’ll just have to wait and see what I’ll be reading for April. I have a feeling I’ll be outside and reading more in my backyard, especially with the extremely warm weather this week! What are you plans for reading this month? Do you have a set TBR, or you just reading what strikes your fancy? Comment below and let me know! I’m always looking for new books!

Tiny Navajo Writes: July Update

Hey guys! I did not write this on Monday, as I had an ARC I needed to write a review for due on Monday, so today is the next best day to do my July Update! To look back on the month of July, see what I’ve read and how far I’ve come on my reading journey this year.

In July I read 12 books, 4 books, 4 manga, and 4 audiobooks. I did not Screen Shot 2020-08-05 at 10.07.42 AMmean to make them this even, but it looks like I did. I read The Library Book, Sorcery of Thorns, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking, My Hero Academia Vol. 21-24, Malala’s Magic Pencil, Into the Drowning Deep, Genesis Begins Again, and The Starless Sea. I enjoyed all of these and I can’t wait to see what happens in the month of August for me! I have also read 88 books out of a goal of 52 for the year! WHOO!

So how did July go for you? Did you get to read what you would have liked to read? And what do you have planned for August? Comment below and let me know!

Tiny Navajo Writes: Update! What’s Been Going On

Hey guys! I know that for about the last month or so, most likely longer, I have just been posting reviews. That’s all that I could really focus on because of *waves hands around* everything. But, as things are slowly going back to normal for me, I’m finding that I can start to focus on a different parts of posting again.

As things slowly start to get back to normal, what I’ll be doing is trying to refocus on my Tuesday, Thursday posts where I did Top Ten and Thursday Threes. I will say that I may try to find a different weekly meme for Thursdays, because it’s basically just a Top Ten, just with three and not ten. If anyone has a different weekly meme I could look into, I would greatly appreciate it!

As for where I have been these past few months, I have been home. I have a new house actually, so I’ve been doing things around my house to not only make it a home for me and my husband, but I’ve been working on making it just more homey as well. I have weeded the front and back flower gardens and planted some flowers. I have replaced all the screws in our cabinets so that they no longer fall off when I open them. I installed towel rods in both of our bathrooms and caulked my bathtub as well. I’m learning to do quite a few things around our house that I wouldn’t have otherwise.

I plan on working on more, learning more, and making this house our forever home. I am very grateful that I’ve been able to work and focus on something over than the Virus-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named, but as things start to open up, my mind is also opening up a little bit more. So, look forward to some more diverse posts and a bit of a update to Tiny Navajo Reads.

So, what are you plans as things start to open up a bit more? Where would you like to go now that you can cautiously go to a few more places? Comment below and let me know!

Tiny Navajo Reads: December Update

Hey guys! It’s January and where did December go? Where did the past DECADE go?!?!??! Seriously, I’m very concerned with how quickly time is traveling, how do we slow this down just a little bit?

Either way, it is time for me to give you my December Update, what I read, the format I read it in, and whether or not I reached my Goodreads Goal of the year 2019 or not.

So, in December I read The Year of Less: How I Stopped Spending, Gave Away My Currently reading januaryBelongings, and Discovered Life is Worth More than Anything You Can Buy in the Store, Digital Minimalism: Choosing a Focused Life in a Noisy World, Welcome to a Writer’s Life: How to Design Your Writing Craft, Writing Business, Writing Practice, and Reading Practice, American Hippo, The Stonekeeper, Voyage of the Basilisk, The Toll, In the Labyrinth of Drakes, The Adventure Zone: Here There be Gerblins, Let’s Make Ramen: A Comic Book Cookbook, Food Wars! Vols. 14-16, White Sand Vol. 3, The Good Luck Girls, and Within the Sanctuary of Wings for a total of 17 books; 4 audiobooks, 5 books, and 8 graphic novels. I read a lot of books that had colons and then more title. That is a very weird thing for me to do.

I also made my Goodreads Goal of 162 books of 150. That is a lot of books, even for me. I can and do read fast, so it’s generally not a problem. This was when I had a half time job though, not a full time job. Having 20 more hours at work a week does cut down on my reading time a bit, and it did make me nervous for a little bit in December; I thought I wouldn’t make my goal and the only reason I did and was able to go over it was because of graphic novels and comics. Those SAVED me and my reading!

This year’s goal is only 52 books, so roughly a book a week. And if I go over, then I go over. But I should be able to read at least 52 books this year, and not feel nervous about not making my goal. Which is part of the reason why I made it such a small goal comparative to reading goals I’ve made in the past. I want to enjoy my reading for myself, not for an arbitrary number on a screen.

So, how did your guys’ end of the year look like? Did you make your reading goal? And what’s your goal for the year to come? Comment below and let me know!

Tiny Navajo Reads: September Update

IT’S OCTOBER!!! I love October, I love the feeling in the air, I love the way the world changes to get ready to cool down and become winter. Granted, I don’t LIKE winter, but I love Fall, so I’ll take the cooling down just to enjoy this wonderful time of year.

So, with it now being October, we need to talk about all the books I read in September. I Screen Shot 2019-10-02 at 10.55.58 AMread a total of 23 books! Holy Moses! 23 books?!?! How on earth did I manage that? Then, as I looked through all of my read books for this month, I realized a lot of what I read this month was comics and manga, so that’s how I read 23 books this month. And some audiobooks. That also helps.

So, this month, I read: Dragonsinger, The War Outside, New Suns: Original Speculative Fiction by People of Color, Teen Titans: Raven, Ink, Iron, and Glass, Faith Vol. 1: Hollywood & Vine, Faith Vol. 2: California Scheming, Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore, Faith Vol. 3: Superstar, Food Wars! Vols. 1-7, Sourdough, Dragondrums, Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo, Mist, Metal, and Ash, Faith: Dreamside, Animosity Vol. 2: The Dragon, The Dispatcher.

How did your September go? Are you guys excited for October? Comment below and let me know!

As you know, September is here, August is over and it’s time for the August Update. What books I read, how they were read, and how many I read. So, onto the books!

Tiny Navajo Reads: February Update

February Update Now that February is Over!

Oh hallelujah! I’m not a fan of February, so I’m really glad February is over. I read 14 books, which is a bit funny with me considering Valentine’s Day is on Feb. 14. 🙂

The books I read this month are The Book of M, Fruits Basket Collector’s Edition, Vol. 6, Screen Shot 2019-03-06 at 10.49.29 AMFruits Basket Collector’s Edition, Vol. 7, Art Matters: Because Your Imagination Can Change the World, Veins of Gold, Sourdough, The Last Librarian, Fruits Basket Collector’s Edition, Vol. 8, Fruits Basket Collector’s Edition, Vol. 9, Deck Z: the Titanic, the Unsinkable, Undead, Fruits Basket Collector’s Edition, Vol. 10, An Assembly Such as This, Duty and Desire, and These Three Remain.

I do actually have some reviews up for the book that I read! That’s also an accomplishment for me, because I’ve done double posts for the past few days and I’ll continue to do so if just so I don’t fall too far behind again.

As of this month, I’ve also found two books that I want to buy and own for myself, thanks to my local library! I love my library for this reason, especially as I’m trying to not buy as many books in order to save more money for student loans.

Also, I know that this happened yesterday so technically it is a March Update, but I have an in-person interview for a Teen Librarian on Monday, so if possible, I could use all of your good vibes! I need the good vibes!

Anyway, that’s my update for February. How did your guys’ February go? Anything exciting happen? Comment below and let me know!

Tiny Navajo Reads: January Update

Hi guys! It’s a little weird to think, but January is already gone and we’re four days into February of this new year! And because of that, we are now 1/12 of the way through the year. That’s just weird to think about. Anyway, here’s what my reading looked like throughout January!

I read a total of 14 books this January, which doesn’t seem a lot, especially as a few of Screen Shot 2019-02-04 at 12.08.40 PMthose books were mangas and graphic novels. But I’m okay with that, as it just shows that I’m reading. And that’s all anyone should be concerned with: your own reading. Nothing else. So, I read Beauty Beside Me: Stories of My Grandmother’s Skirts / Shimá Sání Bitł’aakał Noot’ishígíí Nizhónígo Nidaashch’ąą’go Baa Hane’, The Girl Who Heard Dragons, Fruits Basket Collector’s Edition, Vol. 2, Neverwhere, The Surface Breaks, The Little Book of Lykke: Secrets of the World’s Happiest People, Fruits Basket Collector’s Edition Vol. 3, The Novel Cure: From Abandonment to Zestlessness, 751 Books to Cure What Ails You, Fruits Basket Collector’s Edition Vol. 4, Fruits Basket Collector’s Edition Vol. 5, A Study in Emerald, Dread Nation, American Gods Vol. 1: Shadows, and Finding Baba Yaga.

As you can see, there are no reviews up for these books just yet, as I’m still working through all of my reviews for Library Wars which I read all throughout Christmas break. So, just need to play some catch up this month, so if you see some extra posts flying around this month, that is why!

So, how your first month of the year? Did you get to read a lot? What are you looking forward to in this new year? Comment below and let me know!
