TV czarina Ekta Kapoor, who has been producing popular and successful daily soaps, supernatural and fantasy based show, is now planning to take the Naagin franchise beyond television. Over the years, Naagin has attracted a strong fan base with its blend of supernatural elements, love stories and drama. Now, producer Ekta Kapoor has hinted that the popular franchise could explore a new platform beyond television. These speculations have sparked about a possibility of a film adaptation.Ekta took to her social media account to share a video featuring the actresses who have essayed the iconic role of Naagin over the years. The video looked back at Naagin’s successful run on television and dropped a hint about the franchise potentially moving to cinemas.A message appearing on the clip read, "For 11 years, Naagin has ruled the small screen. Now Balaji Telefilms Ltd is ready to take the iconic franchise beyond TV."In the caption, Ekta wrote, “Something exciting is coming! #WaitForIt Happy Nag Panchami!" read the side note.While the details about the project and its cast are still not known. Ekta has also not disclosed about the actress who will play the lead role of Naagin.For the uninitiated, Naagin franchise started in 2015 and Mouni Roy played Ekta Kapoor's first Naagin. She was paired opposite Arjun Bijlani and audiences still love their pair. The fantasy drama is considered as one of most successful seasons of Naagin. In season one, while Mouni played the role of Naagin, Adaa Khan, Sudha Chandran, and Asshka Goradia also had prominent roles.Mouni Roy returned for the second season of the franchise, while Surbhi Jyoti was chosen as the lead for the third instalment. Nia Sharma then took charge as the protagonist in season four, though the show had to end earlier than planned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Surbhi Chandna was cast as the lead for the fifth season and the 6th season saw Tejasswi Prakash stepping into the role of Naagin after winning Bigg Boss 15.The seventh season hit television screens in 2025, with Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, Eisha Singh, Namik Paul and Kanika Mann among the key cast members. The season wrapped up on June 14, 2026.
