Nitin Jayaram Gadkari is an Indian politician and a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He currently serves as the Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation in the 2nd Modi government. He also spearheads the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

Known for his organisational skills, Gadkari was one of the star performers in the previous Modi government.

He was earlier the Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping, was given the task of cleaning up the Ganga after the cabinet reshuffle of Modi government on September 3, 2017.

Gadkari was given charge of the ministry of water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation. He earlier served as the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 2010-2013.

He is also known for the works during his tenure as a Public Works Department Minister in the state of Maharashtra when he constructed a series of roads, highways and flyovers across the state including the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai–Pune Expressway. He is also known to have played a significant role in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
