From winning Formula E titles to Need for Speed: Porsche's 99X Electric goes virtual

Porsche's GEN3 99X Electric is going from the Formula E championship to the virtual world of Need for Speed Mobile. The title-winning Porsche race car will make its debut in the Chinese version of Need for Speed Mobile on August 21, giving players the chance to drive the car in the game. The move comes as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship teams up with Tencent again after its recent launch in another major Chinese mobile game, Game for Peace.The Porsche GEN3 99X Electric has been placed in the "Hall of Legends - Hybrid & Electric Drive" vehicle class in Need for Speed Mobile. The in-game car has been given a driving profile designed specifically for the game's high-speed streets while replicating the dynamics of Porsche's official Formula E factory contender. That includes special handling features for drifting, cornering and acceleration.Its Agile Drift Tuning allows players to carry higher entry speeds through tight corners and make sharper turn-ins. The car also has High Torque Endurance, which provides a higher base top speed, precise steering response and automatic nitrous accumulation while cornering.ID@undefined Caption not available.Real Porsche technology recreated in the gameOne of the biggest links between the real Porsche Formula E car and its virtual version is the Energy Recovery System. The ERS is designed to replicate the 99X Electric's real-world powertrain management.It provides a high-torque launch boost for 2.8 seconds from a standstill. During braking, handbrake turns and inertia drifts, the system collects kinetic energy.The stored power is then released within two seconds after a drift, creating a major nitrous boost. The energy recovery process temporarily lowers the car's top speed before the stored power is released.The Porsche car also has special game abilitiesThe virtual 99X Electric has special benefits in Need for Speed Mobile's Hot Pursuit mode. As a Street Racer, players using the Porsche can carry more tactical supplies because of its increased overall backpack capacity.As a Pursuit Team driver, the Porsche completely removes the helicopter cooldown timer while the car is being used, allowing continuous aerial surveillance over targets.The Porsche 99X Electric's arrival in Need for Speed Mobile comes as Formula E continues its partnership with Tencent in China.Sanjay Shivaram, Brand Licensing & Retail Director at Formula E, said the move would help Formula E bring its electric racing technology to a huge gaming audience.
