The illusion works by hiding two distinct images inside one picture using shading and rock formations, a classic technique also seen in illusions like the hollow-face effect. In this particular version, a black crow sits atop a rock formation, while a human face becomes visible from a cluster of smaller stones beneath it. Because both images share the same outlines, your brain can only process one clearly at first glance.

Spotting the crow first means that you have a more judgmental sense, though not necessarily in a negative sense. This suggests sharp observational instincts and strong instincts about people, the kind that often makes someone's first impressions turn out to be right more often than not.
