Nayi Idae Yecharikae Movie Review: A haunting idea that doesn’t quite land

Nayi Idae Yecharike opens intriguingly with the late Dinesh Mangaluru entering a bungalow haunted by memories of a German Shepherd—an atmospheric setup that promises far more than the film ultimately delivers. The story follows Leela Mohan (playing himself) and his wife Mala, who arrive at their newly purchased home to celebrate their wedding anniversary, only to be joined—uninvited—by Mohan’s boisterous group of friends. The narrative attempts to deepen with the entry of a Guru Ji, who warns of a decades-old issue tied to the house.As the celebrations turn chaotic, paranormal events begin to unfold, eventually linking the haunting to the mistreatment of a dog and the terrifying consequences of rabies. This core idea has potential, but the execution falters.Pramod Shetty, Anirudh Mahesh, and Jagappa manage to inject some welcome humour, their chemistry providing the film’s only consistently engaging moments. Unfortunately, the rest of the performances feel juvenile, bordering on amateurish. The writing is vague, the dialogues lack sharpness, and the overall making is strictly average. Poor graphics further dilute the impact of what should have been eerie or emotional sequences.Despite an interesting premise, Nayi Idae Yecharike struggles to rise above its uneven craft, offering a few laughs but little lasting impression.
