Govinda issues public notice against defamatory content amid his spat with Sunita Ahuja; threatens Rs 100 crore lawsuit

Amid ongoing rumours and misleading reports surrounding his personal life, Govinda has issued a public notice warning netizens, media outlets, digital platforms and content creators against publishing or sharing false, defamatory or unverified material about him or his family. The notice comes a day after his wife Sunita Ahuja's viral conversation with Rakhi Sawant, in which she claimed she withdrew her divorce petition after learning Govinda planned to marry actress Rani Swarnkar.According to the IANS report, the public notice specifically flags photos, videos, audio, morphed images, deepfakes and other synthetic content created using artificial intelligence. Through the notice, Govinda has made it clear that he has not authorised anyone to create, manipulate or use his voice, image, identity or personal and family-related material through AI or digital technology.According to the notice, civil and criminal action will be taken against violators under applicable laws related to defamation, privacy violation, identity misuse and cybercrime, citing relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Information Technology Act, 2000. Govinda has warned that claims of up to Rs 100 crore could be pursued against those found guilty. The notice also states that the actor may seek court orders to freeze bank accounts, restrict property transactions, seize passports and pursue other legal measures against offenders.The notice further seeks action against YouTube channels and social media accounts accused of deliberately spreading misleading or false content about the actor.
