Taiwan's ministry of national defence (MND) on Saturday said it detected one People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessel and four Chinese official ships operating around the island.
The MND said Taiwan's armed forces monitored the activity using intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) assets and responded accordingly. No Chinese military aircraft were reported in the latest update.

The latest deployment is part of China's regular military and maritime activity around Taiwan.
The MND issues daily reports on Chinese military movements, including aircraft, naval vessels and official ships detected near the island. While Saturday's numbers were relatively low, such patrols have become a routine feature of cross-strait tensions.
China considers Taiwan part of its territory and has repeatedly stated that it seeks what it calls "national reunification." Beijing has also said it does not rule out the use of force to achieve that objective.
