Space workshop turns Nidamarru school into mini laboratory

Vijayawada: A government school in Nidamarru turned into a mini space laboratory on Saturday, giving students hands-on exposure to rockets, satellites, and space technology.The students of zilla parishad high school at Nidamarru, in Mangalagiri mandal, participated in a one-day space skills workshop organised by the Science City of Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) as part of National Space Day celebrations. The programme was aimed at sparking students’ interest in space science, emerging technologies, and India’s achievements in space exploration.Organised in collaboration with Muskan Educom Foundation, an ISRO-authorised organisation, the workshop followed an experiential learning approach. Students explored models and technologies related to rockets, satellites, space rovers, telescopes and virtual reality, while resource persons explained their working principles and applications through demonstrations and practical activities.The highlight was a hydro-rocket launch, with students preparing and launching rockets under expert guidance. The exercise offered a practical lesson in pressure, propulsion, force and motion while making science learning engaging. Students actively participated in the interactive sessions, raising questions and exploring scientific concepts.SCAP CEO Venkateswarlu Kesineni interacted with students and sought their feedback. He said experiential learning should complement classroom education and urged students to remain curious and explore emerging areas of science and technology. SCAP would continue taking similar programmes to government schools across the state, he said.
