Mechanised fishing boat sinks off Vizag coast, five fishermen rescued

Visakhapatnam: A mechanised fishing boat sank off the Visakhapatnam coast on Sunday while it was on a one-day fishing trip. The vessel sank around 2.8 nautical miles from Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour. Fortunately, all five fishermen on board were safely rescued.The MM-447 boat sailed from the Vizag coast on Sunday morning for a one-day fishing expedition. The crew had cast their net into the waters in anticipation of a good catch.According to M Laxmana Rao, president of the Andhra Pradesh Mechanised Fishing Boat Operators Association, the bottom of the boat was damaged, causing water to gush rapidly into the vessel. The boat soon began to sink, putting the five fishermen on board in danger.Fishermen from nearby boats immediately rushed to the spot and safely rescued all five crew members. The fishing boat was completely submerged in the incident.
