Visakhapatnam: To improve healthcare for tribals, particularly students in Parvathipuram Manyam district, the state govt will launch the ‘Manyam Video Doctor’ initiative on Adivasi Day celebrated on Aug 9. Under the programme, specialist doctors will examine patients virtually and guide doctors posted at primary health centres and remote health facilities through video consultations.
The initiative aims to ensure timely specialist medical advice for tribals living in interior areas. Parvathipuram Manyam district collector Prabhakara Reddy said district in-charge minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu will inaugurate the programme.
The initiative comes in the wake of deaths reported at residential schools and in remote tribal areas of the district, prompting the administration to strengthen healthcare services. The video consultation facility is expected to reduce travel time, eliminate long waits for specialist care, and benefit people living far from major hospitals or those unable to travel easily.
