City dentist stalked by neighbour, complaint filed

Surat: A 27-year-old dentist has lodged a police complaint against her neighbour, accusing him of stalking and harassing her.

The woman, who works at a private hospital in Singanpor, said the incident occurred at around 8.30pm on Saturday after she left work. According to her complaint, she was standing outside a medical store when the accused approached her and asked for her phone number.

She refused to speak to him and asked him to leave. However, the accused allegedly continued to insist that she share her number. When the dentist left the spot on her two-wheeler, he allegedly followed her. The accused stopped her near a swimming pool and asked her not to tell her father about the incident, police said.

The woman, however, informed her father, following which both went to Singanpor police station and lodged a complaint.

Police said the woman’s family had previously filed a complaint against the accused at Chowk Bazar police station about a year ago, alleging molestation and voluntarily causing hurt, but both the parties had reached a compromise in that case.
