Chatra police arrest two with 985g opium in Simaria

Hazaribag: Two drug peddlers were arrested with 985 grams of opium during a vehicle-checking operation on the Lawalong-Bagra road in Simaria on Monday evening, Chatra police said.The arrested men were identified as Sudhir Thakur of Tungun village and Suresh Ganjhu of Khangara village, both in their thirties, under the Lawalong police station limits. A motorcycle and a mobile phone were seized.Simaria SDPO Nagar Goje Shubham Bhau Saheb said, “SP Animesh Naithany received a tip-off that smugglers were travelling from Lawalong to Pathalgada to sell opium. A team, led by Simaria CO Gaurav Rai and officer in-charge of the Simaria police station Amit Kumar Gupta, set up a vehicle-checking post and intercepted the two motorcycle-borne miscreants. A search led to the recovery of the opium.”A case was registered at the Simaria police station under the NDPS Act. The accused were sent to judicial custody. Police are probing the source, intended recipient and wider trafficking network.
