Property dealer shot in Phulwarisharif area; SIT to probe case

Patna: A 28-year-old property dealer was shot dead in Phulwarisharif area of Patna late on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Golu Kumar, alias Golu Yadav, son of Parmanand Yadav and a resident of Karourichak village under Phulwarisharif police station area. The motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained. Police said a special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to probe the case and arrest all the accused.According to locals, Golu had allegedly attended a liquor party with a group of friends before an argument broke out among them, leading to the fatal shooting. Police received information around 12 midnight that a body was lying near a palm tree in Kisan Colony. A police team rushed to the spot and started an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that Golu died after being hit by a bullet.The body was sent to AIIMS-Patna for the postmortem, while a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called to collect scientific evidence from the crime spot. Police are also examining the circumstances leading up to the murder and identifying all those present before the incident.City SP (West) Sanket Kumar, who also reached the spot on Tuesday morning, said the victim has been identified and initial investigation indicated death due to a gunshot injury. “The FSL team has been called to the spot and the intelligence team has also been roped in the investigation. An SIT has been constituted under the leadership of SDPO, Danapur-I, to arrest all accused involved in the incident,” he said, adding that raids are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects.The SP further said the motive behind the killing is yet to be established. Police said further action will be taken based on the postmortem report, forensic findings and evidence collected during the investigation.
