Homemaker loses Rs17 lakh in investment fraud
Nagpur: A 50-year-old homemaker from Mihan area was allegedly cheated of around Rs 17 lakh by three persons who lured her into investing in the share market through WhatsApp and a mobile app.As per the complaint registered at the cyber police station, the accused used different mobile numbers to add her husband’s number to a WhatsApp group named “f6 | equity” between June 12 and August 21.They convinced the complainant to download an app called 'JBX One’, promising high returns on share market investments. Believing their claims, she transferred around Rs 17 lakh from her bank account through RTGS payments. No refund or profit was ever received, said the complainant.Police registered a case under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cheating and criminal breach of trust. The accused are yet to be arrested. Investigations are underway to trace the mobile numbers and operators behind the app and WhatsApp group.
