
BMC has set December 31 as the deadline for completing its first cable-stayed bridge over railway tracks. The bridge is being constructed near Mahalaxmi railway station and is planned to connect Saat Rasta with Mahalaxmi Maidan. The project is therefore centred on completing the bridge within the deadline set by BMC.

The cable-stayed bridge near Mahalaxmi station will be 803 metres long and 17.2 metres wide. The section falling within railway limits will measure 23.01 metres in width. The project is being executed as part of the Development Plan works and will connect Saat Rasta with Mahalaxmi Maidan.

The eastern span of the bridge will be 165 metres long and falls within railway premises. Construction of this section will begin after BMC receives the required block from the railways. A 78.5-metre-high pylon, which will hold up the cable-stayed bridge, has already been constructed. The pylon forms part of the ongoing bridge project near Mahalaxmi station. The structure is being built to create a connection between Saat Rasta and Mahalaxmi Maidan over the railway tracks.

Construction of the 165-metre-long eastern span, which falls within railway premises, will begin once BMC receives the required block from the railways. The eastern span is part of the cable-stayed bridge being constructed near Mahalaxmi station to connect Saat Rasta with Mahalaxmi Maidan.
