Lucknow: Head teachers in state-run schools will discuss with parents to use funds transferred to them under the DBT scheme to buy uniforms, shoes, socks, sweaters, stationery and school bags.In new guidelines issued by additional chief secretary, basic and secondary education, Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, teachers have been asked to encourage parents to buy quality items that can last throughout the academic session.Sharma directed head teachers to conduct awareness campaigns among parents regarding the purpose of DBT funds. They have been asked to encourage parents to maintain uniforms properly.Parents have been advised to reserve uniforms primarily for school and educational activities, Sharma said. Further, teachers must inform parents regarding cleanliness and upkeep of uniforms, sweaters, bags and other materials.Schools have been instructed to identify students who have not yet received the prescribed items and provide support. Teachers will guide parents to verify that their bank accounts are active and Aadhaar-linked, Sharma stated in his order to basic education officials.
Calling for regular monitoring at the school, block and district levels, Sharma said that the School Management Committees (SMCs) will actively participate in reviewing implementation, while BEOs and BSAs will conduct periodic inspections and assessments.
